  1. Does anyone have the factory mirror and brackets for a 1986 malibu skier? Please advise, thanks.
  2. Question, I was changing the impeller on my boat after noticing the boat was getting hot and found the impeller bad. While doing the work I noticed that the bearing on the raw water pump look to have fallen out. Does anyone have experience rebuilding the pump or is it just better to replace at 300$+. Also while removing the old pieces of impeller it looks like trans cooler holes was tightened too tight causing a slight bend in the cooler. Can I use pliers to repair? 1986 Malibu skier PCM 351. Cheers
  3. I have a 1990 Malibu Skier. I had the misfortune of hitting a rock last weekend and trashed the prop, ripped the rudder off and bent the drive shaft. I am trying to find replacement parts. My local Malibu dealer told me I am SOL. Does anyone have any input on whether or not OEM parts are still available for this boat. Are there parts off of similar models that would be compatible, etc?
  4. After changing the starer in my 1988 Malibu Skier (Mercury 5.7L) direct drive, the starter housing isn't as larger as the really old starter it replaced. The shop (and online) confirmed I have the correct replacement part. However, the housing is smaller than the previous housing and it leaves a gap, where water could enter the flywheel housing. The shop told me that's normal and that's just how the replacement is. That seems highly suspect to me. I have an image, but can only upload from a URL in this post. Does anyone know the real situation? Any help would be appreciated, because I can't get back on the water until I resolve this.
  5. Memorial Day weekend i took my boat out ran it for 7 hours ,shut it off multiple times and at the end of the day the boat was dead in the water. 11 volts on the dash. Got towed in took it home changed the starter out, got 2 brand new deep cycle marine batteries ran the dry lake started right away. Took the boat out today started first turn, a little higher than 12 volts on the dash, went about a hour. Shut the boat off , turn the key ,cranks like it wants to start and just started clicking dash was reading 11 volts . let it sit tried to start it about a hour later no crank just clicks really fast sounding. I've had the boat out 4 times since I bought it , 10 hours first time no issue, 5 the second no issue. last two times its left me the lady and the kids dead in the water. The boat runs great when it does run, runs pretty cool,
  6. I have recently acquired a 1983 Skier which runs great but needs some serious TLC. I have found most parts needed but don't know what to do about the destroyed dash laminate around the gauges. Anyone have any ideas? Also any recommended gel coat repair product?
  7. Bought this Skier last Spring. I promptly and squarely hit a stump with the rudder on Memorial Day, got it back from the shop in time for Labor Day. Runs and sounds great, tracks true, seems to be mechanically sound. Took out the seats in December, ripped up the floor in April, started the floor repairs yesterday. Seats should be back in a few days, I'll be sanding and finishing the fiberglass work on the floor this week. Next, installing carpet, new helm pedestal, seat installation, then tackling the rub rail, repairing a few gouged gel coat spots, decal replacement, removing the truck bed liner sprayed on the dash, and then a good buff job. She should make into quite a head-turner. I'll update as I go along ... https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZTpHG2WDDbHUzmRb7
