  1. The temperature gauge on my 1998 Sunsetter LX has quit working. My service tech has determined the wiring and sensor are working fine, se we assume it is the gauge. Malibu says it's a Teleflex gauge unique to 1997 and 98, and I'm having a difficult time tracking one down. Any suggestions? New, used, or upgrade. It's an electronic gauge with a straight 5-pin connector.
  2. I have a 1998 Sunsetter LX with a manual wedge. The foil broke a couple years ago so I had it welded back together. It broke again the other day at the hole where the pin goes thru to hold it in place up or down. At this point I think there may be a fair amount of metal fatigue so I'm reluctant to have it welded again. When it does break the water pressure forces it up and I know bending like this is not good for the strength of aluminum. Any ideas? Anyone aware of a Malibu boneyard (junk yard) where I might be able to get the foil as the mounting seems to continue to be in good shape. Any chance of getting a replacement foil or full wedge assembly from Malibu?
  3. Hello, thanks for adding me to the group! I just recently came across a 1999 Sunsetter that someone had torn apart, ready for a new motor. They bought a new motor, and then lost interest and didn’t finish it. I’m interested in taking on the project, and as such they are selling for dirt cheap. My main concerns are the fact that I have no way of checking out any electrical system components since it is taken apart. Are there any other red flags I should be thinking about? Is it even worth diving into? I’d appreciate any insight!
