Jack, I'm afraid I don't understand your question to be honest. :unsure:

Both pics where taken from behind the boat. The 2nd one "looking" directly in the exhaust.

Our 2005 Response hat the SS tips with flaps inside, the 2006 came w/o.

That concerned me a lot and I had our dealer varify that with the factory. (I thought maybe they put the V-drive SS-tips on our DD boat.) The factory told our dealer that this was correct and there is no danger blowing the engine by taking water through the exhaust even with no flaps. Meanwhile and 152 hours later I tend to believe them. :)
