Hello everyone, I am a new owner of a 2010 beautiful Malibu response mint condition . Any recommendations on oil brand , viscosity and recommended filter? On my previous boat  1992 correctcraft sport Nautique I always use Castro 10-40  oil with the wicks filter for over 20 years and always had good luck with it .
thanks

Sometimes the manuals aren’t all that great because they reference oil like penzoil “marine” which they don’t sell anymore under that label.  I have been going with chevron delos oil because some super smart dude on TMC verified that it has the necessary marine additives/stabilizers that the motors require.  In all honesty, even more important than the specific brand/label of oil you go with, is the frequency of which you change it.  Change it at least every 40-60 hours or at the end of the season every year and you will do yourself a lot of favors!

Agree, but generally a simple search finds what the answer so it's useful to point first time posters to the manual, suggest they read and search themselves before asking same questions over and over.............

Rant over. Wish it was was summer here as then I'd feel better!

Doesn't matter, since even though they say Pennzoil, they have a weight, viscosity and if it has to be synthetic.

Marine stabilizers in oil?  Uh, no.  You are looking for some automotive spec like sm or sn or???

There is no such thing as a not excellent oil or filter these days. Just observe viscosity.

Sorry not an oil expert.  Just know that chevron delos 15-40 is gtg in my engine, and that not all 15-40 is recommended by indmar.  I assumed it had to do with treatment or additives, it could just be a specific testing protocol/rating performed by the manufacturer.

It has to do with certain oil specifications - typically the s? rating (sm,sn, etc) or the c?-? ratings - which tend to be more of a diesel thing.
