So...I managed to install the shadow-casters.  That was easy.

Figuring out how to post a photo on this forum is hard.

Thanks for the upload instructions.

Drilling 5/8" holes in this transom was maybe the scariest thing I've ever done.

Haven't seen this back in the water at night yet - but the install went fairly smooth. (other than dropping the mounting screws in the grass and crawling around looking for them for 30 minutes)

Power toggle progresses through several different color options.  Back in the water tomorrow (waiting for sealant to cure) to make sure it doesn't leak.

Thanks for all the tips and advice on this forum.  Really helpful info.

Looks like a very clean install. Nicely done.

I think if I did it those 5/8” holes would have ended up more like 7/8” because my hands would be shaking so much from being nervous about drilling through the transom. :dontknow:

Looking forward to the water pics.

I'm scared to drill to install Phender Pros, and that's above the water line!   Nice job on the lights, show us some in use pics next!

I realize I’m hijacking this thread, but what’s the tint percentage on that glass on your boat @dalt1?

Not hijacked, My underwater lights are so bright I had to tint windshield to 10% for night time use.:whistle:image.thumb.png.b8453048b02a79c27671721346d157c3.png

Does anyone have pics of the Malibu Oem blue underwater lights or docking lights?

the LL look awesome, but my understanding is the oem ones are plug n play and much cheaper, likely fine for my purposes, just looking for some accents not to light up the entire lake

Docking lights I’m trying to see if there’s enough value there, i haven’t gone out at night yet but trying to avoid a situation where i can’t see or struggle docking, i was told the nav lights will be fine

My personal take on docking and other lights is that you end up blinding yourself and everyone near you with reflections or direct glare.  A handheld spotlight is your best bet for navigating a channel and trying to see the buoys, etc.  Turn the beam on (above the windshield), spot the marker, turn the beam off.  No real need to continuously sweep the area with a beam in most cases.  The more time you keep the big lights off, the better your eyes are at actually seeing things.

And don't put the spot directly on another boat if you can see his nav lights.  You'll blind him and make him want to hunt you down.

Docking lights are very useful around docks but worthless in open water. If your purpose of adding them is to use around docks and trailering at night then they are worth every penny imo.

I have a 12v Stanley spotlight that’s collecting dust in the garage that I’ll bring next time we go to dinner on the lake and see how that goes

More docking than trailering (today), my slip is pretty challenging when there’s wind and a current, it’s a tight shared slip i need to turn right into while current and wind push me off to the other side of a narrow marina, I’m pulling up starboard on a sharp 90 degree angle which during the day is fine, last thing i need is to do it blind with another boat there

if i do the oem blue maybe it’ll be more cost effective to do docking as well at the same time
