What yrs did the vtx have hull changes?

2020 to current

2016-2019

Not 100% sure when it started through 2015. I think. There could have been a revision in the 2008 ish timeframe but I believe it was all the same hull through 2015.

How does the 16-19 yrs stack up to the other model yrs? We are a 3 sport family

I had a 19 and really liked it. Skied quite well and surfed well too. I have a 2020 now and like it better, basically in every way. It skis and surfs better and the layout of the boat is better imo. I never owned an earlier model years but they were great at skiing and ok for wake. 2015 was a sweet spot year because you got power wedge II, zero off, and surfgate. But they are hard to find. How’s the wakeboard wake compared to a 2007 vax diamond hull

Sorry, I don’t know to be honest. We haven’t wakeboarder in many years. I suspect it will be just as good or better as you will have power wedge II or III and probably more factory ballast. 
 

FWIW, my 2020 may be available this spring.

I mostly agree with you @ahopkinsVTX, 2015 was a sweet spot for the VTX.  The only downfall of that year was it still had the 2 screens when all the other models upgraded to the "new" larger single screen.  The MLS screen on the lower right side is known for delamination and now costs around $3k to replace.  The 2016-2019 era was a bit heavier (with more freeboard), better surfing boat, but also had the Raptor motors.  I didn't love the Raptor motor era in Malibu boats, they're too loud IMO.  I really like the 2020+ with the M5 in it.

Good points but there are solutions out there for the screens now. And also the 2019’s had PCM Crusaders, not raptors. But I agree the raptor, although it performed, was not my favorite engine option.

Do any of the Vtxs have reverse seating? If so, what yr did it start?

They do not. 22LSV is the shortest boat in the Malibu lineup that has reverse seating options.
