I'm looking to order some Rockford Fosgate M1 speakers (frame size 7.1") for our 07 VLX. Does anyone know what the max frame size is that will fit in the depression in the dash? Our boat is currently in storage and I'm unable to measure.

Frame as in the OD of the grill? This is the dimension you need to use. Most 6.5" speakers have an OD in the 7'ish neighborhood. On many of the boats with dash speakers, they are close to the windshield.

COOP - Good point regarding mounting depth. I'll have to bug the landlord about visiting for some measurements.

MLA - You are correct. The speakers are fairly close to the window.

In my old boat I had JL 6.5s in there and replaced them with Rev6s.  The Rev6s were deeper and cause me to cut out underneath to make them fit.  The hole is tight.  Instead of removing the windshield due to speaker location I used these to get the old speakers out and new ones in.  Used a Dremel underneath to cut.

Good luck.
