Malibu installed wrong engine on new 2020 23 LSV boat (Monsoon 6.2 450 installed when the order sheet was for a new M5di

Well if it has been fixed, it is news to me. My buddy has a 2019 23 LSV and he has had nothing but cat problems with his Monsoon 450. To the point that it was in the shop more then he used it last year.

Holy crap!!  That's crazy!  I was under the impression that those issues were resolved after 2017.  On mine, one side was completely gone and the other had a huge hole in it.  They were both replaced under warranty.  My understanding was that it's a bad design with the y-pipe allowing water to splash up on the element.  Perhaps I was misinformed.

2019 Malibu used PCM Crusader Challenger engines. Not the Indmar Ford raptor engines.

I could have sworn it was a 19. Maybe I am wrong I will reach out to him.

In 2019 when the GM strike was going on Malibu installed indmar in the Malibu lineup and PCM in the Axis lineup.  I would bet the engine in his boat is a ford 410. When the dealer ordered a M5 and they an out of the malibu motors they put in a indmar 410.  Just because the motor cover says 6.2 does not mean that is what is in it.  Look at the build sheet.

Eh, a build sheet can say M6 and the boat shows up at the dealer with an M5 in it. Don’t ask me how I know this...

To clarify for all, the GM strike was in 2019 but we were into the 2020 model year for Malibu.  So it was 2020 Malibu’s that could have the Indmar Ford Raptor power plant.  And the Ford 410/450 is a 6.2L.
