2004 LSV 23, need a new motor

Recommended Posts

We had an extremely early freeze (oct 5, 2019) and my motor was damaged due to ice. Tommy's tells me that I need a new motor installed, $10k. Do I have any other options?

If all you did was let the block freeze, you can get a new short block.  Look at https://www.michiganmotorz.com/base-marine-engines-c-31_46.html to give you an idea of prices.

That’s where I would start.  10k is steep I’d shop new engines and a different shop/independent mechanic for install if you don’t want to do it yourself.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Sourcing the motor through this website will be extremely helpful. Thanks!

I was quoted 10k for a motor in my 07. If you have the equipment and the ability they are easy to change.

I had a new motor ordered,  removed, installed and running within two weeks of diagnosis.

5.7 liter long block about $3700.00 shipped from marine engine depot
