These are way more reasonably priced than the PTM racks

That's because they are bungee racks that don't pivot.... not comparing apples to apples at all.

PTM Racks are clamping racks which is a far superior way to secure your boards. Additionally, they pivot to turn into the boat to make loading boards easier and pulling on a hoist possible.

True. The swivel makes things way easier. Running the bungees on and off the boards when they are outward facing is awkward.

Why such a high cost at $2k per rack?

And for $150 extra you get QR/swiveling racks.  So $300 per as opposed to $2K per.  The only reason they are $2K is because the ghost of P.T. Barnum is real.  :)

Because people will pay it. Because they are a low volume production operation. Many reasons I'm sure.. .Check them out in person sometime and see what you think. They are very well made, very heavy duty and are easy to use. With that said, I couldn't justify the cost on my last build. I do have a $300 mirror from them that is amazing, however.

Axis swivel racks from the dealer are around 1200 for the pair. I priced out the racks from Roswell, and with the axis adapters and swivels they were about the same price. I have no issues with my factory units. Huge upgrade from the fixed ones the boat came with.

That is almost palatable.  SUrely the 4K for the others cannot be worth it?

With how many people on this site that have them, clearly, they are worth it to some....
