Yes, I'm not a fan of BT there is a noticeable difference in volume between a BT signal and the USB plugged straight to iphone.

I agree. Unfortunately however only flash drives are working now with our USB. Since we got the boat in March the iPhone cord running from USB worked great for music but now head unit won’t recognize our iPhone. Do you ever have this issue?

I haven't had that issue, everyone that I ride with except me has a iphone and they always just plug in. Have you tried an actual ipod just to see if it could be a phone issue?
