Oil Capacity in 00' Monsoon???

Recommended Posts

Bingo. That's what I have exactly. The cap on the right has a big yellow Penziol sticker on it. The other looks exactly like yours.

Thanks for the quick reply!

@jtormey - All you should be doing today as others noted is draining the oil based on comments not being able to warm the current oil and the slow drain effect.  If you proceed to complete the oil change today do not expect to need the full amount of oil to replenish the pan.  You can always measure what you drain and probably should regardless of how you proceed.  A very important item is to not overfill the pan, if you do you could aerate the oil when running which is not good.  Also, when you go to remove the oil filter assuming it is in the standard position, it will be full of oil so remove cautiously.  I suggest a small drain pan (bottom of a plastic milk jug) and some newspaper/paper towels/rags as it's easy to tip and spill the oil out of the filter.  When installing the new filter, add oil to it, best if close to full but at least 3/4 will be fine.  There are 2 filter sizes which will determine the total amount of oil you will need.  Pan should hold 4 quarts, filter about 1 quart but as noted, add 4 total to start (pan + filter) or at least to bottom line on dipstick and top off to the top line on the dipstick after a short run to verify for leaks.  When checking oil level the boat should be level.

Another method to removing the filter is to use a gallon ziplock bag around the filter while unscrewing it to prevent oil from spilling. Once it's off the engine, close the bag so you can remove it from the engine bay free and clear.
