Gator Step/ Sea Dek style teak flooring on a budget

Not sure what a "surf gate" is.  If you are talking about my "goose slappers", they are to keep geese off of my platform. I find regular and goofy geese really like hanging out on my platform so I put those on to wipe them out.

Now that you mention it they do seem to help out my surf wave. Kind of an unplanned side effect like some medication has. It's kind of like Viagra for my wave.  The controller was tricky, but I think it came out pretty slick.  I'll post a couple of pics but I struggle posting pics here so go see the full write up, with more pics and videos of the slappers and controller, at Wake Garage.

Doing the same thing in a few weeks... while on maternity leave.   Looks great Hyper!!

I would love if you did a write up or at least took some pictures.  I have been wanting to do this on my 01' but ripping up that carpet makes me nervous as I have heard its all unfinished fiberglass.

1)Rip the old carpet up

2)clean old glue off

3)paint an epoxy paint down or use Herculiner

3) Add new carpet or seadek, etc.

Done and done.

Ive been though this process a number of times on past boats... really nothing to worry about.

He didn't say it was easy, just nothing to worry about!!   Think of it as sweat equity.  The more time you spend on the details, the more the boat is worth without money flowing out of your wallet.

Are you ripping out the carpet in the storage areas too or just cutting out the carpet in the cabin?

I've heard differing theories on unfinished fiberglass - why is it you are not concerned?

Being that it is unfinished, the sea deck won't stick to an unfinished surface so you have to I guess epoxy like CFH said

Yes, only place Ill be keeping the carpet is in the Nav storage area where my amps are.  Using the Herculiner in the rear storage where my ballast are along in the bow where my integrated ballast is.  Ill do pics when I start the project... just not going to wright a book about it.

Gotta say @Hyperryd your boat looks amazing.  The CFO is talking about wanting to go from our '06 to a '14 or '15.  Amazingly I am very hesitant to do so. I love the versatility of our Vride.  Solid slalom wake and great wales for surf and wakeboarding.

If I could talk her into a couple grand and 4 weeks of being left alone in the garage, I could make my '06 look like a '14 and add your "slappers" to it.

Nice work.  If I were to get some of that off eBay how would  I go About getting a perfect edge on one side where I would join 2 sheets?
