Painting a boat with automobile paint

The first thing I did before painting my 98 sunsetter was check the technical data sheets for the sealer I use.  It is labeled for use over gelcoat so I felt confident using my automotive paint on my boat.  It's ben four years now and it has held up great.

I did not like the tri-blue stripes Malibu used on my boat so I covered them with kona blue and Daytona blue with a starfire flake added.

My my biggest concern came the first vacation after painting it.  It sat in the water for six days.  No problem!
