But still the factory speakers are junk.

No, they are not junk, they are just not what was right for you. The Icon-8 is a traditional coaxial speaker and the HLCD rev-8 is the high performance model, Like a Cadillac sedan, but what you wanted was the 2 door ATS coupe.

What seems odd to me is I ran the Exile Xm9s on my last boat and now am using there Surf 9 co-ax.  I actually think I like the co-ax better than the HLCD.  I would assume Wetsounds would be similar in these findings that both can sound excellent.

well, in a 230,000 boat the speakers should be ultraperformance speakers dont you think ? I dont think Ferrari install regular speakers on their cars :)

From my understanding they were standard at 1st as the only choice was for the coat to be completly loaded. People wanted to deoption the boat to make it cheaper so the ability to do so was added.

Well... at a $550,000 price tag.. this Ferrari does not have a stereo at all

Really.. cheap wetsounds.. the Icons are cheaper than the Rev but is not due to sound quality... Revs are HCLD speakers can be harsh to the ears with the highs they put out... ie surf zone and cabin of boat. They are intended for projecting the sound back way back behind the boat wakeboard zone.. Icons have more mid bass, great for surfing or cabin listening.

It comes down to what the consumer wants and there is option for either style of listening. Just because an Icon is cheaper in price to a Rev does not make it a cheap quality speaker. There is only ~300.00 dollars price differentiation between them (Icons 750.00 Revs 1049.00).

If you really want the best.. why not get Rev 10s?

Guess they must depreciate like crazy.  All the ones that are for sale used are in the $135 range

I see and here this all the time lately.. my $250,000 boat... if he paid that he got screwed. my dealer offered me new at $165,000... msrp is $230,000... now you can argue the taxes as being part of the deal.. but I don't agree with that argument because taxes are different everywhere.

I guess it makes them feel special when they say that they pay msrp ;)

I would have assumed the M235 came with the Rev 8's but I guess you can get Icons as well.

I'm actually thinking they only offer the icons on the M. Got my dealer checking due to that's what my boat ended up with but was supposed to be rev8's
