Except next year there will just be 3 "levels", or the ability to option down to LXR prices, of the TXi. All on the same running surface.

Neat, getting tired of the Carbon Pro eating some of their lunch?

What does a new LXR generally go for?  Not MSRP, but out the door?  Just curious. Me and a couple buddies are probably gonna pick up a used 2015 carbon pro.  Just curious as to the price diff.

I believe they were targeted at about 42 with zero off.

@oldjeep the carbon pro is selling ok, but I don't think it's really cutting into the TXi.

I have a 2012 VLX.  Of course, the next year... surf gate came out.  UGH.  Built a ghetto gate - to save $20K over what Malibu jacked the price up to in '13/'14.  Then, 2015 redesign came out.  So many improvements - that I could justify an upgrade.

I'm on the fence - but am not paying $105+ for the 2017 22 VLX.  Now, a 21 VLX comes out - tempting me at $80K.  So, we go out & sit in it.  First thing I notice is how bland, smaller & stripped down it is - compared to my '12; similar in size as a VTX.  To me, the 21 VLX is a stripped down VTX.  It seemed more plastic, less flashy.  Ultimately, I think it will only entice someone who has never had a VLX & really want's a "VLX".  The electronics and gate will likely entice someone coming from a much older boat.  Also, Malibu (IMHO) makes a very good hull design.  I understand why Malibu brought the 21 VLX from the dead - because they'd priced themselves out of a specific market range.  I get it.  After thoroughly inspecting side by side, the 21 VLX & the 22 VLX, I'll wait until after the first of the year and get a 22 VLX.  The 2016 22 VLX is already selling for $85k NEW (plus tax,lic,etc.etc.).  I guess if your garage isn't big enough - or the extra $40 a month on an 80k loan vs 85k loan is too much  -then it's ok for you.  Now that Malibu is so high priced, next year I'm seriously considering a Centurion, or Nautique (both very expensive - but so is Malibu).  If you are making payments, you have to consider is upgrading to a Centurion Ri217 or Nautique worth the extra?).  Just my two cents.  I really love my '12 VLX.  But the only thing that Malibu has done since then is a 2015 22 VLX that impressed me - but kept me out of reach with the price.  After visiting the boat show in January, I was amazed at how fast Supra & all the others are catching and surpassing Malibu in technology.

Want a 22 VLX with low hours and decent price?  If you aren't stuck on a zero-hour boat then they are definitely out there........I can't imagine these guys won't negotiate with you at all either.  I'm sure they want to move them.

@Fman says his boat is coming up for sale soon, maybe reach out to him?

Where is that the case?

The cheapo guys who love the old cheap nautiques seem to like the bargain carbon pro. Not a very big pie to divide, if one of the big 3 had something in the 40's they might take back some of the CP market.

Yup, seem to be a lot of CP lovers there and they are buying them instead of one of the nice brands ;)

Well like 7/10 people on there ski on a private lake so I can completely see why they would buy the CP. I would be very interested it as well.

Honest question - what does private lake have to do with buying CP?  Small with closed bow?

If you only need a ski tractor to go out and ski sets? There isn't much about the CP that would tailor to hanging out on the lake after your morning ski set. That was my point.

And @oldjeep yes I would still consider it. I believe you could get the LXr for the same price as the CP, but the LXr isn't on the same running surface as the TXi. Now if you could get the TXi hull at the same price point as the CP then I would probably still buy the Malibu, but would still look at the CP.

"cheapo guys"  "instead of nice brands"  "interior and dash..pretty sad looking"

I guess it is just Chuck, maybe not hating.   I dunno, it is really a great boat.

Not really hating, just an opinion on the way they look inside.  The pictures of the 2016 look somewhat better than the couple year old one I saw.  They are the cheap brand, that is their selling point

Has anyone else noticed that the trend on these new boats is no gunnels in the bow.   I noticed it on the VLX and the New MxZ.  Not sure on the others.   But this poses a problem for those wanting to run hidden bow lines from reversible pumps.

That's because the mxz and 21vlx are two piece not three piece construction. At least I'm assuming that's why
