Noise coming from my boat.

I don't think it's the blower. I had pulled the blower fuse and it didn't shut off. Doesn't it seem way too loud to be a blower?

Yep, sounds like you might have a wedge actuator gone bad. Have someone spin paddle wheel, if you still have paddle wheel(no gps), and moved wedge back up.

So if boat is off, and you aren't actively turning anything on to make this sound, I think it's blower, bilge or ballast pump.  Would be a lot easier to tell from inside the boat.

You do not have water in the exhaust! You have not taken a prime.

I don't understand.

One or both actuators is bad and the internal limit switch has failed so it continues to run.  You will need to determine which one, or both, and replace the bad one(s).  Recommend replacing both so the move in and out at the same rate. Bakesonline.com should have your actuators. Good luck!!

Most likely one of them has a bad internal limit switch. The only way to tell which one is, while it's making noise and wedge fully deployed or retracted reach in and touch each to feel the vibration from the worm gear still turning internally. Again, I would recommend replacing both, because if you only replace one the older one may rotate slightly slower or may not move the exact stroke length of the new and will bind up the wedge. I replaced mine last year with about 900 hours on the boat. Fairly easy to do.  Good luck. Pm me with your phone number if you want to discuss it.

You should be pushing much more water from the exhaust! Sometimes running on a fake a lake your water pump will not prime and thus you will not be pushing water into the exhaust. I just thought as soon as I opened the video you are lacking water flow through your engine. It will change the sound of everything. Maybe I am not hearing what I should be?

That's just water draining after pulling the boat out of the water.

I think he said the engine was not running.  I missed that fact at first.  The noise is coming from the wedge actuators. Water was gravity draining from the exhaust with engine off and actuators activated to retract wedge, and it appears one of them has failed, or possibly both.  They have limit switches in them that turn them off once the get to heir max reach or max retract positions. O, at least that is what I think is going on.

So, just to be clear. The engine was not running in the video shown above? That was just sound coming from "something" ?

Steve B.
