Funny things a Salesman Told You

Many times that "time" excuse holds no water.  "I don't have time to fix this, so I have the dealer do it."  Yet you have time to get the boat out, hook it up to the truck, tow it to the dealer, deal with the dealer, drive home, come back god knows how many days later, inspect everything, deal with the dealer, pay them, hook back up, tow it home.  I many cases that can be several hours of total time on something that may have taken a lot less to just DIY.  When you DIY you can also do it on your timetable; no leaving work early to make sure you can get to the dealer, no stress about when the dealer is going to actually work on the boat (or if it is going to get screwed up in their possession).

It must be nice to be all knowing on issues such as this.  That must be like having some sort of superpower.  Next time I have issues with my boat I will give you a call so you can tell me wether I should work on it myself or take it somewhere to have work done.

It's called common sense and looking at the whole issue.  Time is time, whether you are under the boat or towing it.  Being able to dictate what time you use is always better time to use than that which you have to follow a schedule.  It's a basic concept.

You are more than welcome to PM me if you want to know when to work on something.  I've answered a ton of technical questions for a variety of members here, in posts and PM's.  What have you contributed?

I'd be happy to buy the beers.  But would rather have a foiling lesson from what I have seen from the photos you have posted.

To be honest, one of the reasons that I bought a new boat with a warranty is because I believe that I am less likely to have problems.  And when I do, I can get someone else who has more knowledge than me to fix it.

And, to get back somewhat on topic, I have a strong enough relationship with my dealership that the few times I had problems last year they did exactly that.  Fixed it, and did it quickly.

Hell I would like to buy everyone a beer and get all of this testosterone and flexing off to a different thread. This was supposed to be funny stories and I hoped light hearted ones as well. We are all in the same boat so to speak.... It seems some of us may have been pent up too long over the winter. I know I have.... Good news spring is 2 weeks away. Cheers everyone!! ???

Yeah, this hasn't even been a bad winter. I was skipping the whole way home this morning from walking the dog down by the lake. Full ice out. It should be a happy day...
