Congrats! And the secrets to keeping a boat in good shape for 17 years area???

Keep up on the maintenance, which isn't all that hard. Fix stuff when it breaks. Wipe down interior/exterior after EVERY use.

Garaging helps a lot too.

+1 on keeping it in a garage. I use my boats in salt water, so it's not just a wipe down, it's a soap and water wash and engine flush after every use. Then it goes in the garage with a 220V squirrel cage HVAC fan blowing air straight down into the interior overnight until it is dry. No mold or dry rot, no extra sun fading.
