M235 - G Killer?

He recently rode both the M and the 2016 G23 and said the M blew it away. I take his word at face value. He doesn't speak ill of the G, just said the M was that much better...

Well, geeze. Now I'm totally sold, especially because you decided to keep that part to yourself on the post that I quoted. You know, the post that you specifically quoted only the wakeboard mag videos, and said "G owners are mad as they just got bumped from the top of the food chain...."

I mean, I'm no rocket surgeon, but I probably would have led off with that.....

Instead, it just makes me think you made it up to back up your statement. Especially when it is hearsay. And especially when there are as many hearsay statements that have been made to the contrary.

It could very well be the best new wakes on the water, and it would be exciting if it is. I also know, that if it is, I won't be butthurt one little bit.

The one thing I do know, my VLX is more than enough for me.

It's like wine, I don't like wine. People tell me to try a glass, it's really good, blah blah. I tell them that their wine would be wasted on me, because my palate is not sophisticated enough for it. My wakeboarding skill set is not good enough for that wake. Sure I'll ride behind the boat to say I have, but I can't use it to its potential.

For those who actually ride, and ride well, they will be stoked. I'm sure it will come down to preference, and everyone likes different things, and that's ok. Competition makes for better products.

Think about it, The G is a great boat, no one says otherwise, I personally do not like the design, but I can't say it's bad, just personal preference. But the G has been out several years, and where Tige rushed out a product to compete with the ASR (and it sucked), Malibu took it's time. They dissected the G and saw what made it great, then enhanced on it. AND, I'm on a Malibu site. I may have gripes here and there, but it's still the brand I like best. I'm not on PN telling the G owners how great it is or trying to sway opinion. How many G's have you seen on the water and people are pulling tubes? Riders can't clear the wake? That's fine 100%, but there are also a segment of boat buyers that purchased the G because it is touted as the "best" boat. And arguably it has been. They forced other manufacturers to step up their game. There is a stigma with the G and when you see one, even those of us on this forum, we turn our head to check it out. Those who bought it because it was the "best", yes their feathers will be ruffled a bit when they see an M because it is direct competition to them. No one wants to hear they bought the best, then find out it's been beat.

You may think I made it up, whatever.

As for my buddy, he owns a Nautique.

I am in agreement that magazines rarely write negative reviews of anything! Magazine reviews should be taken with a grain of salt. However at least they did show some video of wakeboard wakes.

Wakebrdr94 did not just make that story up. He shared the same anecdote with me a week ago in PM. I'd post a date stamped screenshot to prove it but I don't believe in sharing PM's or texts on the main forum.

Being a computer nerd, I have been around the term fanboy all my computing life. Product X is better than Product Y, because that's what I want to believe and I base my facts to back my biased opinion. Does not seem any different when it comes to boats. People get so emotionally invested in a particular brand (dropping 100k tends to do that), that they choose to ignore facts or numbers or performance that does not fit their fanboy views.

Drives me crazy...why cant people just be glad that the products we all use are getting better and better.

I think Dark hit it on the head with the grain of salt. I have the Magazine subscription and I've never read an objective head to head review of 2 comparable boats

I did type it with tongue in cheek but I suppose that didn't come through. I like the Wakeboarding mag videos but I don't think "review" is the best way to describe what the vids are. More like a factory sponsored promo vid

Tourbillion Movements are basically the most complex thing you can ever imagine in a watch. 3-axis Tourbillion is basically the holy grail.

Their value is in the precious machining and hand building of the movement.... oh and then like 90% exclusivity.
