putting names on boats

No name on any of my boats.

However, when I got my Hobie-Cat sail boat back in the early 80's (double hull, goes like stink) I wanted to name it "Passing Wind".... but my 1st wife said no. I explained that I would put "Passing" on the side of 1 hull, and "Wind" on the side of the other hull.

As this sailboat (that had been officially clocked per the manufacturer at 26 mph) zoomed past other boats on the lake, the side saying "Passing" kind of made sense. Conversely, people seeing the other side "Wind" would imagine this is a logical name for a sailboat that goes like the wind. Put them together, it "Goes like Stink"..... so = Passing Wind.

Got divorced, then grew up, and changed my mind on the flatulant naming business.

Still have the Hobie. Still goes like stink.

Just.... no names.

One of my buddy's co-workers sailboat is named "Blow Me." He had it at work in the parking lot one day as he was sailing after work...he offended a few people who could see it from the office windows. HR made him move it so you could not see the name from the building.

He just bout a bigger boat on Lake Superior..."Blow Me Too"
