Congratulations! That is one beautiful boat. I am thinking along the same lines of going with a single axle on our next boat. Right now I have to play some games to squeeze the boat into the corner of our garage. Looks great!

bama, can I accuse YOU of being a mastercraft mole now? :innocent::Tease3:

kidding! Looks like a great little boat. And we all know that the best inboard forum in the world is right here. Just don't keep posting up how great your boat is and the forum seems to be pretty tolerant of us non-malibu owners (and I really DO still love me some Malibu).

This thread is interesting - it shows the true character of many of our Malibu enthusiast.

That is a beautiful boat...congrats on the purchase and hope all the plastic holds up well!!!! :);)

LOL, you mean all the plastic? that stuff is amazing.

Have you owned a mastercraft and a malibu of the same era? I don't think you have. From my personal experience the mc design, fit, finish, materials and quality of the mc are superior than the malibu.

On new boats I can only go by second hand experience so I can't really comment.

Ya were pretty tolerant of you ;)

Bama, you will love it. Great choice. Ironically, I just joined this forum today after spending 2 hours in a Malibu dealership yesterday. In the next few weeks I am most likely making a trade the other direction. I currently own a '12 X2 and I'm about to change to a '13 VLX with Surfgate. I can honestly tell you that if I were to post this on the "other" site, my MC companions probably wouldn't be so friendly about it like the followers here.

For everything you said you are looking for, it will exceed your expectations. I have all the respect for Mastercraft after owning one for a year. I just can't ignore Surfgate any longer. My family didn't surf when I bought the boat a year ago. Now, we do it so much we don't ski and hardly wakeboard. And I can promise you that an X2 weighted correctly will produce a GREAT surf wake for a 20 ft'er. It's the the 20 minutes I waste switching sides EVERY time for me and my wife/friends. I have finally had enough. Since you don't do it often, it won't be a big deal for you. That was my only downside/complaint.

Anyway, congrats on your purchase. There's some good info on the "other" site. If you need to know anything at all, they'll help you out.

I suspect not since the 2013 X-Star uses timers.

I will take an actual float over a timer system any day.... both of my vlx's gauges seem to work great.

MC is using both floats and timers for their ballast systems now. The new murphy system uses both inputs to keep tract of ballast levels and allows for piggyback "learning". Timers are also user adjustable again now. The only year, that they skipped floats, was 2012.

Congrats Bama. Beautiful boat. The X2 is an excellent choice for somebody who loves to do all wakesports, but doesn't expect to be a pro at any of them (probably 90% of us). It does everything fairly well.

I just left Mastercraft for the MXZ.

I know this is not a compairson thread but since everybody is talking about it I might as well throw in my thoughts.

The reason the pole is as tall as it is,when pulling a tube the rope is out of the water which keeps the spray out of the tubers face. Don't know why they don't make it retractable...they should.

I would like a system that learns, with extrea ballasts I could would not have to remember to turn the pumps off after emptying them.

I like the look of the wrap on the console but I think over time the fiberglass will hold up better.

Fan switch....no big deal either way.

I wish I could have my key back.

PerfectPass is way better "to me"

Wakesetter graphics look good but take a lot of time to wax around.

Beneath the floor and out of site areas on the MC are cleaner and finished better. "Less fiberglass rash if you have to work on it"

The gelcoat was better on my 03 MC than that of my 2012 MXZ.

I am not a fan of all the billet and do not like the tower at all.

I like the tower and top better on the MXZ.

Most of the things that I like about the MXZ relates to the size as it compairs to my old X2.

I do feel for the money the Malibu is a better buy and I am happy with my decision but time will tell.

Congrats on the new ride. I rode in a X2 once and I didn't care for it. There was just as much room in the bow as in the cockpit. The 5 adults and 2 small children and the boat WAS STUFFED FULL. That's why I love my LSV. Cab forward design. I had 4 adults and 4 children during the 4th and it wasn't cramped. And no one sat in the bow, ever.

Haven't been in too new of a bu but the attention to details on that boat look excellent! It's something I would pay attention too when boat shopping.

Just curious, how many screws have you found in your bilge? Or is that a Malibu option?

Spare parts: standard option.

I got "nicer" spare parts with my bu though... like that $5 nylok brass nut that came from who knows where.... My MB has only coughed up a few washers and a roll of electrical tape (WTF? haven't ever found a single piece of it installed on the boat?).

They used it for patching under the gel, so nothing to worry about.

I got a 7/16" wrench last year, but no spare parts time. Somewhat on topic...I sold my '11 VLX to a X-2 owner, he was shocked he didn't have turn toward the rider to adjust tracking when they cut out. Pretty sure MC was not using tracking fins on some models in '08.
