Rear floor speaker hole enlargement

I gotchya, so you're going IB. Cant wait to see the upgrade unfold. Im all for an IB install when its the right sub in the right spot and boat will not go quietly toward an enclosure. I agree, that Polk is not the right sub, not to mention being closed up in the locker. We didnt even turn Jrz's on, we just went right into the install and pulled it all. I think you are going to have a hard time finding a single quality amp at a cheap price that will do what you need, but there are a couple, but they will cost you. 2 quality amps that will deliver to the tower and the sub will be easier to find, but may not be much leas cost wise. Theres plenty of wall to mount amps to without taking up storage space, so I would definitely consider individual amps.

In general an 'infinite baffle' woofer can absolutely sound as good as an 'air suspension' design up to an output limit. The compromise for infinite baffle is that a self-damped speaker is not as linear in its control at longer excursions. However, using a larger IB woofer with more surface area means that you don't need as much excursion to get the desired output. So I like getting a 15" in the Nautique if it will fit.

Hole: a sanding drum with fairly aggressive grit will eat right through but maintains a lot of control. Make a hell of a mess.

Amps: I agree with MLA that individual amps offer more flexibility. Have you thought about hitting the classifieds on DIYMA? Must be a ton of good used stuff available. Some of the discontinued stuff from Steven Mantz like the Drednaught might work.

I used that technique to expand a cupholder hole on my dash to accomodate a heater hot tube. Worked great, but oy the mess!
