Hard to see my VLX go... now time to pick something new!

To be honest, the one we like the most is this one... but it requires TWO upgrades.

It's funny... up until just yesterday I was of the mindset that if I bought a second upgrade, I'd use it to do the Hull Base in black. But then I saw bamabonner's LSV and I realized that a colored top deck with a white hull base looks sick.

IXFE- what did you think about the G25 other than the $145k price tag?

First of all, I should clarify. I didn't go demo a G25 because it was a serious contender for us. I would never spend that kind of coin on a boat. But the Nautique rep brought one to Portland and had it on the water the entire day. An invite went out to the entire dealer's contact list to come down and check it out. So I grabbed my wetsuit and board, and took my 13 year old daughter to go see what all the fuss was about. Since I had never been in a Nautique (other than at boat show), I thought it would be a good representation of what that brand has to offer in other models.

LIKES: Obviously, the boat is HUGE, and that's really the best feature. I can see the appeal, especially when you see how much storage it offers. I also liked little details like the fact that they mounted the battery switch in the bow walk through (behind a little door). In that same walk thru they have a little trash can access door (the can is below the glove box). Nice touch! I also liked the tower. Like the Supra SA tower, it's much easier to get up and down than the G3. The 550hp motor didn't suck. And the wake is mackin'... even my 13 year old loved the BIG wake (I thought she'd be scared).

MIXED: As much as I don't like the huge transom walk thru, it was nice as a rider to just grab your board and walk through there to the platform. The rear facing seat is cool, but not nearly the big deal everybody makes of it.

DISLIKES: Call me old fashioned, but I like carpet in my boat. Nautique is a entirely different feel than Malibu inside. Whereas Malibu is soft and warm, Nautique is hard and cold. The faux teak flooring only makes that feel worse, imho. There is no way to mount four racks to the tower. The worst part of the the G25 I drove was the throttle. It was sooooo hard to move back and forth. And it was almost impossible to find neuatral. It has a very rough and numb feel to it. No feedback. Coming from the Malibu throttle (super sensitive), this was a real disappointment.

IXFE; do you like any of the suggestions?

Yes, I like them. I'm sitting here watching the WBC while I search the web for actual boat pics (so sick of Build-a-Boat).

We are down to these two... my wife prefers #1 while my daughter prefers #2

I think I vote for #2 here. The first one just has no pizzaz. Looks too much like your old one at a glance. But one thing I will say, is I think the first would go better with your tow rig. It's white isn't it?

Yeah, tow rig is white.

I think #1 will have plenty of pizzaz in person. The problem is that Build-a-Boat does a terrible job showing the brilliance of the silver.

If you are going for flake I think the silver flake is the only one I would do on the main color. I think those boats look great, the only reservation I would have is that section is probably one of the more scratch prone and I hear its real hard to fix right.

I went flake this year and am just loving it. No doubt if you want BLING, sparkle is the way to go :)

I love the red / silver / white / black theme I would definitely be looking at something like that for a future boat if my wife didn't hate red ;)

Dave, I also vote for #2 with red accents! Thats going to be a really sweet color combo.... be careful around the docks, I hear if you scuff that flake its near impossible to repair correctly. Get some extra large fenders!
