Your opinions on a "new to me" boat...

So I've got money down on this boat to hold it for me. Anyone close to this dealer interested in checking it out for me and taking pics of any problem areas for $100 via PayPal? I'm in Idaho and don't really want to fly in and see what's up. Please email if so. Thanks!

Well It's mine, and should be here tonight. I went out on a limb and asked for a volenteer from this site to look at it for me. I had several people say they would, and I was very lucky in finding the right guy. Thank you fellas, this site is awesome! He was very thorough with his evaluation, and even called me while there. Lucky me, he used to work(?) for the dealer and actually knew who the previous owner was. That set my mind at ease and made for an easy decision to buy the boat. I will post my findings when it arrives...

Man I wish I knew you were still looking into this boat, I was at the dealer a few weeks ago and would have looked at it then. My boat is still there in the service bay (see my epic thread on seized shaft packing nut) and I'll hopefully be going back to pick it up next week.

Sorry I missed the update on this thread when you were looking for someone to go there again! Hopefully it all works out and you got a great boat!

Well it's here. I'm very happy with my purchase so far, although I haven't had it on the water. It showed up pretty dirty from the drive. The dealer told the driver NOT to cover it?? Seems like that was a stupid move since it hammered rain somewhere along the way. My only gripe after spending ALL day cleaning it, is the sub amp won't turn on. I put a volt meter to the power connections and it's getting power, but no light. Ironically, I just took the "Do not remove or your warranty is void" stickers off this morning! Any ideas other than it's toast? Everything else works and looks great!! Can't wait to see how the 8.1 Vortec runs compared to my old 340 Monsoon! I'll post some pics after the maiden voyage.

P.S. it only has 486 hours!! That's a bonus!

Say What?? It should have been shrink wrapped especially going that distance.

This. You should be asking the dealer to reimburse you for cleaning and a new amp.

I've got an email into him regarding the amp. We'll see where I end up. Now that I'm done with the cleaning, I'm over it. I agree, it should've been wrapped. That got lost in translation somewhere I think, but ultimately, I believe he was just too busy to get it done.

Yeah, too busy pulling half the interior and the engine out of my boat to fix the packing nut to worry about shrink wrapping a boat they were shipping halfway across the country! Sorry, but they should have wrapped the boat going that distance. I would make a stink about that.

I know. I'm hoping they'll do something with the amp and then I'll be happy. It's hard to buy something that far away and not be able to see it for myself. I'm just glad it was in good shape overall or I was going to go nuclear!!
