there is a measure tool in google earth.. play join the dots with it.

I scope out potential ski sites and measure lake lengths, widths, clearance to shore lines, estimate buoy positions etc etc.. very handy!

Most of the smaller detail pics such as this are actually aerial photography rather than satellite i believe.

That one's a satellite shot. There is a "birds eye view" available that is an aerial photography shot.

I won’t be impressed until someone has a shot of themselves mooning the satellite. :fingerwag::shocked::blush:

the funny shots all show up on streetview. unfortunately the mooning/flashing type rarely make it up. We tried that (something similar) when we saw the street view car in MV one time.

OK so is it my imagination or is there a sunk boat behind you and a sunk dock in front of you.

WOW that is what it looks like! Crazy.gif

The dock i nfront of you looks like it has waves on it and the boat behind you looks like the bow is full of water. Yours looks fine. But yea it does look like the lake is flooded and the dock is not a floter and the boat behind left the cover off'

If you click on the link for the map above, you can scroll down the shoreline and it looks like there are a lot of docks and boats underwater. This was either taken during a crazy flood or there's something fishy with the way it took the pictures.

This picture has been provided to you by the TP (Tube Patrol). You are in violation of Inboard Boat Ordinace #358, section a. Your Malibu has been confiscated and you have been properly outfitted with a 1978 Glastron Tri-hull. There is currently no cost for this service. Please pick up your "best-fit" replacement at the launch, where you will also receive your relocation documents.

I had a 1969 Glastron tri-hul in college back when it was only about 17 years old!!

The water levels at the beginning of the season were abnormally high and most of the fixed docks this year were underwater for a good couple weeks. The one I was at is a floating dock so it is above water. No the boat behind was not underwater. Just looks like it due to it's odd color. And as far as the tube goes, yeah that's mine but it was the only way my 4 year old will get in the water at the time. Now we just use it mainly to float on and as a play toy when we are floating. I think I have only towed (going about 8mph if you call that towing) it once since the beginning of July and that was for one of her friends.
