Vibration on take off

Recommended Posts

Not sure what this means. The CNC machined props do not come off the machine balanced. The balancing is done post machining by hand, both brands are done this way.

If the prop blades are damaged, have it repaired. Most likely the cause of the vibration.

I think he means the "old nibral props" that wern't Made on a CNC. I think they were "Forged". I olways ran Stainless back in the old days because they were better out of the box. Not the case any more.

The CNC props of today are cast the same as the "old style" hand crafted parts were and continue to be. I do not know of any towboat props that have ever been forged. The CVP stainless props were investment cast props, meaning they were from wax molds that are coated in a ceramic shell and poured. This process could lead to the blades being out of track if the wax changed during the coating process, which they often times did. We use the investment cast process for our underwatergear parts.

The "sand castings" we produce are more accurate since the master patterns are CNC machined plates and the sand molding process does not allow for much, if any, variation in the cast parts.
