ATF amount when changing fluid

I'm changing the ATF fluid on my 94 Echelon and she only drank 1.5 quarts. Is this about right? The boat is not level and I'm wondering if that matters at all. Plus, she shows a bit full on the dip stick, but that is a 'hot' classification. What about when cool, ie when filling?

probably late now but next time (if the trans oil level is jake) measure how much comes out and put that much back in.
