I'd get a 15x12 (2315 or 2419) and keep the 537 or get a 381 for cruising. 
I have a 02 vlx which is the same hull. 

try full ballast, lead and crew and you will see the diff.  2315 has limits, 2419 does not

Not to argue with you but I run 1100s in the back corners, a tube sack in the center, 300lb lead in the nose and when surfing have 4 to 7 people in the boat.

I start draining some when we get more then about 5 adults in the boat as it pushes to low in the nose. 

That's with the suction cup style gate also.

yes surfing far less issues i agree, wakeboarding is a diff story
