High gas prices

I just filled up the MP3 last night. I got 56 MPG :)

I am feeling pretty good about reducing my carbon footprint and gas bill commuting.

This way I will be able to increase my carbon footprint on the lakes and delta over the summer and not feel guilty about it.

What did Gore call that? Oh yeah, a carbon credit.

well, looks like the malibu will only be run above 3000 rpm's with someone in-tow this summer. gonna hafta practice the lowest rpm which the boat is 'planed out' to find the best water.

Your best MPG will be found between 3000 and 3500 RPM, bettered only by that at idle speed or just slightly above.

I saw $4.80 for diesel today ! Dang Shocking.gif I forgot to check the marina last Sunday but I'm sure it will be around $6 for fuel by M-day. Lots of floating this year.

Yes the fuel prices stink to put it mildly. The good thing is though that we have Indmar engines which are more efficient than a Merc. Everyone I know that has a boat with a Merc in it gets worse than me. Since I barefoot I really pay attention to the fuel between the boats. My friends with centurian, sanger, who use mercs I use about 1.5 gallons less an hr doing the same skiing. Some of the other people I know also that do wakeboarder get better also than their mastercrafts, natiques and so on. So we can look at this positive.

I call gas at $2.65 a gallon by July.

I'm thinking $4.65 for 87 in No CA by WOW.

I agree with $4.65, I think $2.65 is a pipe deam.......there were people shorting oil at $50 too.....big mistake!

$131 oil.......I hope your still not living in your $2.65 Gallon dream world.

As J-Ro alluded to in his first post, the Fed needs to stop lowering rates in order for the dollar to bottom out & begin climbing in value. When that happens, we'll see some relief. They keep lowering rates hoping to stimulate the housing market, but it's burying the value of the dollar in the process. Of course that's the simplified version. :)

But some people need the simplified version because they think it's the oil companies raising prices. Well said Wakegirl, I hate these gas prices as much as anyone. The Bu doesn't burn any less gas just because it's more expensive.

Never fear! Congress is here to help us!

They are going to have hearings this week about high oil prices. Surely once they have paraded around and bashed the CEO's from the oil companies Congress will come up with a solution.

In addition, the House passed a bill yesterday to sue OPEC over oil prices. That's gotta help, right? :)

Meanwhile in SF Bay Area, Officials Vote On Controversial Greenhouse Gas Tax. Over 2,500 Bay Area factories, power plants, hospitals, airlines, oil refineries and other businesses that emit carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases may be among of the first in the nation to pay a tax to battle global warming.

Oil refineries. Yes, we have a few. Who do you think is going to pay this tax? What if the refineries say enough is enough and close? What will gases price do then?

Read my post again. There were/are things that need to happen first before we will see it.

The post was long enough that you must have/will beleive it to happen, unless you just posting random sinerios. The last line says to short Oil right now, does it not? ..........Now $133.69

I just was looking for a reason to open this thread again.....nothing personal.... :)

The people in SF just never seem to stop amazing me with thier level of complete and utter stupidity. You taxes them to death they'll just leave, not to mention it just means we'll pay for it as comsumers in the end.

Although the fee is expected to do little to curb emissions

I swear the Bay Area is home to the dumbest, most ignorant, holier than though, liberals in the country. They do stupid things just to do them. 2/3rds of the population could easily be Darwin Award recipients (The other 1/3rd is Conservative).

What's a sinerio? Sounds like a Cheerio who needs to go to confessional.

It is possible to come up with scenarios based on future unforeseen events without actually believing them.

Gas will be $8.65 by tomorrow.

And here we go again...

How many times has congress grilled the oil CEOs in attempts address the oil industry's record profits in order to reduce the price of gas; with the repeated result of prices going up even more. A direct correlation perhaps Cry.gif Just pathetically painful...

I think you and and J-ro are right in that once the fed stops making money cheap and the dollar starts to pick up strenght again, the speculative gas bubble will pop (or at least shrink), however I am looking at it from the other end as we want to buy a house next spring and I am liking the position that we will be in as are as interest rates go!
