How do you get the courage?

Try taking a lesson...it is a lot easier for a stranger to give good advice.

At the end of last season, I was only hitting the W2W every so often.

I took a lesson at OWC in April and it made all the difference....I can hit them evey time.

Also try demoing a new board...they can make a ton of difference.

What board are you riding?

OK...so we went out today on Trophey Lakes. I tried the new board (or rather JZ's old board, and my new board Rockon.gif ) It's a 2004 O'Brien Demented...I really liked it. Anyways, no ballast, no wedge...we went 20.5 and I cased the wake. Didn't clear it but considering this was my second time out, first time on the new board - I guess that's ok. I need to cut harder to the wake and straighten my knees when I hit the wake. I might be getting closer Dontknow.gif Thanks for your help everyone Notworthy.gif ! Hopefully clearing the wake will won't be too far in the future!

W&Swife, u doing good now, and on you're way. I may have been the slowest learner around. And have just recently been doing a real w2w......even my pro boat drivers have been kind enough to do a boat "save" to help me in the leaning process. The "save" can often help when learning something new, and make the landing so soft and easy.

The number one thing that all the instructors and riders have told me over the last year - go to Wally's World and get some Balls. I did, and put those in my pocket and it works great. Trust Me!

Rode again today (3rd time after a 2 year hiatus due to a blown ACL)...it's annoying being chicken... Biggrin.gif ...was getting good pop and sticking W2W's every jump but the courage to do any inverts is not there. Cry.gif I attempted a back roll, chickened out 1/2 way through, pitched the handle and took my lumps. :) Between fits of wheezing laughter my buddies managed to get out the words "pile driver"... :( .

Oh well, I'm running the skinny stick at 6:00 AM tomorrow. Yahoo.gif

A good rider told me to imagine that when you "pop" off the wake you are trying to stick your head and shoulders up as high as possible. It keeps you going in the right direction. I used to cut at the wake like a madman, but now I can snap right over them. Even before the tower. Now I am landing WAY out in the flats.
