    Break In Period

    Get it in writing.
  3. Awhile back I got a code about my fuel pump or 02 sensor being bad I got some of the cleaner u get in a bottle to rid any plugs that might be there the code went away. I recently bought a fuel pump vacuum tester, do I even need to check it if the codes went away? I haven’t had problems wit it bogging down since I used the fuel additive.

2019 - AXIS T22 - No push and setup help

Not trying to be rude here but I have a couple questions. how long have you been surfing? I’ve seen people complain that they have no push and the reality is, they just don’t know how to surf. How much do you weigh? What board are you riding? I’ve taught many people to surf and a ton can’t stay on the wave until they get their feet in the right position on the board. how deep is the lake you’re trying to make a wave on? Shallow water greatly affects the wave.

How far under water level are your lift bunks?

That’s a good idea. In my case it’s a canal that drops water level to like 24” in winter and I plan to leave the lift in year round. My only concern is the hydraulic hoses under the water so will put a small bubblier in, but the canal rarely freezes given the current, especially lately! alternatively, if I raise my legs 100% up (got a 60” farm jack that is awesome for this), it might even get the hydraulics out of the water where they drop it, but not sure on that

    2018 Axis T22 Surf setup

Mine was gen 1, so earlier hull. But for a baseline I’d start with 500 per locker in the rear, center and bow full, wedge at 2 or 3 if PW, and then enough lead or human ballast in the bow to keep the bow rise in check while underway. Speed 11-11.5 (gps).

  10. Great question. I'm on season 3 with my 2022 25LSV and thankfully (fingers crossed & knocking on wood here) I've not had any screen issues.

How far under water level are your lift bunks?

I put 4'x4' pieces of plywood under the legs on my hoist to keep it from settling when I put it in each year. It's super helpful in the fall when taking the boat out of the water, too. Makes it much easier.

    Just a little FYI

    Good Luck happy boating!
  13. We are just now back in the Malibu family with a 2020 23 LSV. We sold our 2005 VLX about five years ago, so have no experience with screens. The seller of our new-to-us boat said he replaced the left screen under warranty. Should I expect that the main screen will fail in the near future? I am transferring warranty for the final year.

How far under water level are your lift bunks?

16” depth or so on bunks, no rubbing, nailed the leveling second try, nice and solid with 4sqft 2x12 pads attached to the lift
  15. That was my thought too. Thanks
  16. I prefer the vesconite myself.
  17. They have a nut on the stern end that can be tightened to increase force. I tightened both with no success. mrothwell, how much stuff do you have on your rack? I'm curious if the springs are too light or worn out.
  18. I have the prop shaft out of a 2002 21 LSV vee drive. The recommendations are to replace the seal with a dripless seal and the cutlass bearings. There are 2 bearings available. Brass and vesconite. What is the groups experience and which should I use. Cost diff is minimal. It's all new to me so I will follow recommendations. I was going to get this shaft seal. I haven't ordered anything yet. https://www.myinboardmarine.com/products/flex-gland-system-drive-shaft-seal-kit-1-1-8-by-johnson-propeller-new?_pos=1&_sid=cfb5d76fc&_ss=r these are the bearings. https://www.myinboardmarine.com/products/strut-bushing-1-1-8-i-d-x-1-1-5-o-d?_pos=10&_sid=1d782d605&_ss=r https://www.myinboardmarine.com/products/strut-bearings-set-glide-marine-vesconite-1-1-8-x-1-1-2?_pos=3&_sid=519f183d4&_ss=r
  19. No idea how it got bent. It was a rescue boat from Boat Angle. It sat for 2.5 years. It was inside so the interior is nice.
  20. Man I am so pumped @csleaver you nailed it! I figured out what the crossover bleed tube (thin metal pipe) was, took it off and it was 50-60% clogged in 1 small area with rust just like you said. I cleaned it out and boat is running like normal! Can't thank you enough, saved me 3 hours of towing it to a dealer and probably being without the boat for weeks plus the cost! Thank you again sir!

    Tommys vs Malibu

    No doubt!
  22. That is true, thanks for the advice! Is there a way to tell which screen to order without pulling it out and getting the model number? I'd like to still use the boat while I wait for a new screen.
  23. You can probably go up to 14.5" diameter. Have been running an Acme 1235 (14.5 x 14.25) on our 2000 LSV for 300+ hours, with sufficient clearance and no evidence of gel coat burn. Would expect the VLX to be similar, but check to be sure, as suggested above. On the other hand, an Acme 537 (13.5" x 16") would still be a step in the right direction, and they can be found fairly cheap these days if you keep your eyes open.

    Tommys vs Malibu

And they appreciate that. We would ask when they want to pick up the boat, then wash it the day before, then the customer would call and say next week, then we would end up washing it again before they arrived. We would wash a boat several times only to have the customer not show, or keep pushing back. Finally said its one wash. It will be clean on the date you originally said you were picking it up. If you don’t show and it’s a month later, sorry if it got rained on or is not clean anymore. Can’t keep washing the same boat 4-5 times. way off topic, but there should be thread for the service side of things. The stories would be epic.
  25. Yup, I believe you're correct; this one has 6 bolts, but the depth of paint/enamel looks right as does the knob, particularly the top of it, where I believe I see "Walter" on it. At that price, I think a try with JBWeld is in order before coughing up for the (admittedly correct and new) dipstick... Thanks for the research. THIS (and the preceding) is why I'm a Chief ☺ - I KNEW y'all would have my solutions. Thanks to all who've been helping.
  26. As we round third heading to home, getting the boat shiny again was a target. It spent its summer months in a boat rack outside, and the exterior shows the effects of the sun, as seen in a few snaps. If you've ever had someone compound and wax the fiberglass and stainless on your boat in the same sort of condition, would you mind sharing what you paid for that privilege (recall ours is a 21' Sunscape)? My apologies; my computer has lost its mind; just look at the colored fiberglass and ignore that it's inverted, please... Thanks!
  27. A little spendy for a dipstick, but here's an option at Bake's... https://www.bakesonline.com/walters-v-drive-oil-dipstick.html. You could also try contacting Walter (company) directly. See contact info at http://www.waltergear.com/ BTW, looks like you're looking for a dipstick for a Walter V-drive, not a "VelvetDrive". (Velvet Drive is a common marine transmission, but probably not what's in your boat. You likely have a ZF-Hurth transmission coupled with with a Walter V-drive. There is a dipstick on each one, but from your images looks like the one on the Walters V-drive is the issue). Best of luck!
  28. Agreed. Too much wheel. 13.5x17.5 was factory on those in the Acme 381, but that's not a surf prop either. It's a great slalom prop and it's what we've run on my dad's '01 VLX (Sunsetter, same boat, just different hull tweaks) for 23 years now. But for surfing, definitely prop down. I wouldn't go any bigger than 14" on that older hull design.
