Update; I was a bit optimistic/misinformed, as the broker just texted me to say: "Hi Skip, the boat is due to leave this afternoon. You will be amazed at the detail. It looks like a new boat. He's giving the boat a final bath. I will snap a few pics just before lunch." I'll come back with the more notable ones so y'all can drool over the stupendously amazing deal we got on our new ride. Unfortunately, while I did shine the light into the EH meter to see that it had only 717 vs the advertised 777 hours, that wasn't one of the pictures I took. Trailer repair will commence once I get there with my tow vehicle so we can take it to a body shop... L8R, y'all!

I was mostly curious to see how hard it might be to machine a new one and avoid the wait. -

Turn the handle sideways as you fill. My VTX shuts the pump off frequently if I do not hold it sideways. -
DIY line/handle supplier? Sound fuelish?
footndale replied to SkipGundlach's topic in Watersports & Gear
This is only place of know of now that sells handle parts. https://www.lakeelmosports.com/category/Show-Ropes-&-Handles-Handle-Parts And I seem I'm a little late with this link. Show ski teams have been making their own ropes forever. -

2000 Sunsetter can't add fuel at the pump
JasonK replied to Hark's topic in Maintenance, Tech Info & Troubleshooting
A lot of people added a Racor LG50 to their fuel lines, to keep the gas from shooting out the fill hole, while filling. I think they had to be mounted up high, and if the mount fails and it hangs low, then it can cause a back-up. I could be wrong about them failing, but I think it's what I read. -

Yes, they're 3 years apart so when one was a Freshman the other was a Senior. Worked out well! -

That 02 Sunscape 21 LSV I keep annoying you with is being picked up, and delivered, early this morning and late this afternoon, respectively, in MI and GA. With any luck, the home at which it will reside will be finished in a couple of weeks, and after we've unloaded the trailer and set up our bed (can't do anything without a place to sleep and stuff to cook and eat on), this will be me this summer and into the fall: But first I have to get my son to find that custom HO ski, built for a Nautique (pardon the expression) rep, and fitted with custom HO XXL (14W gives me a good understanding) full boots, wherever under the miasma in his basement it may be hiding! Meanwhile, the lacing boot cover to HIS ski's almost-big-enough bindings has been rescued by a cruising buddy who's a sailmaker (we lived and cruised aboard a Morgan 461 sailboat for 15 years) having repaired the broken outer sleeve on one of HIS boots; it's under way to GA from VA, ETA this week. Color me stoked and a heavy-duty Malibu fan (I just ordered another long-sleeved Tee because my day at the flea market was so stupendously well protected from sun, and earlier, during my sea trial, warm enough that I didn't need a jacket in the 60 degree 20-mph breeze enhanced by my hot start and hard turns testing mentioned elsewhere). I'm wondering if you'll have to do a base timing set-up also.

1999 Response LX steering slack/sloppyness
Mart99 replied to Mart99's topic in Maintenance, Tech Info & Troubleshooting
Was able to get the boat out of storage. I quickly check the issue. 1.- There is no rudder play by hand at all. 2.- If I go under the steering column and turn the steering (exercise the free play), the steering move but the rod on the opposite end does not move. So does not seem to be the cable that is giving that slack. Now does the tilt mecanism is prone to that kind of issue? thanx Mart -
I'd put the factory cam back in it. Engine is speed density. Unless the cam changes are minor it cannot compensate for it.

Did they get to overlap while being there? I had a semester with my sister at the same school and was very grateful for that -
Haha. I feel the same way. And one of my old businesses just happened to be owning a Malibu dealership. You couldn't write me a big enough check to do it, even if you asked me during covid sales boom, which is why I have so much respect for those that are doing it above board and doing it well.

Monsoon 409 Thermostat Location
2011vlx replied to KnoxTNBoats's topic in Maintenance, Tech Info & Troubleshooting
Hey @KnoxTNBoats follow Csleaver recommendation, I have the exact same motor and year and had the exact same problem, Csleaver nailed it. I had a small amount of rust buildup inside the small metal crossover tube (it's what the air breather tube goes into and crosses over to the other side of the engine). It's very easy to remove it and inspect. once I cleaned out the rust out everything operated as normal. I wouldn't have figured it out without Csleaver. -

Lake Elmo makes sense (they are local to me) as they cater mostly to show skiers and I can see those guys needing/wanting to make their own custom length ropes. -
2010 VLX Fuel Pressure issue
justgary replied to Birdy718's topic in Maintenance, Tech Info & Troubleshooting
Most likely a bad regulator, but it could also be an injector hung open. -
I have that HF polisher (older model but very similar) and a Milwaukee M18 one. I like the HF one a lot more bc the Milwaukee one is crazy powerful and will sometimes “get away” from me.

2011 21 VLX potential purchase...opinions please
ahopkins22LSV replied to 69charged's topic in General Discussion Area
Yes each tank has its own fill and drain pumps. Bow fill pump is most likely in the middle of the floor near the center hull drain plug and the left rear tank is probably just in the front left of the engine. Should be able to access the right rear tank sensor from under the floor in the right rear storage compartment. -
Hi guys, Picked up a new to me 2010 VLX. we have put 3 hours on it and it now has hesitation under load. Did the full tune up, rotor cap, distributor, leads and spark plugs but still having issues. Went and bought a fuel pressure gauge and used that. It does not get up to full pressure with key on as about 5 to 6 seconds later the pump turns off again. If i do multiple key ups i get just over 56psi in the gauge but as soon as the pump stops all pressure is lost. Back down to 0 PSI Could this be a bad fuel pump or fuel injector?. This would explain the hard starting when cold as there isn't enough pressure in the fuel rails until 8 to 9 seconds of attempted starting. It has the Gen3 fuel pump. Do these have filters? Looking for advice on what to do thanks.

Mystery pole floating in bilge

Looks like a piece of a Bimini top or a pole to prop up cover to prevent rain pooling on top -
In the seller owns the dirt and leases back to the buyer scenario a breach of the lease ought to void a seller noncompete. If seller was represented anyway.
