03 sunscape perfect pass speed not working
SkiPablo replied to JDever's topic in Maintenance, Tech Info & Troubleshooting
well 2 of my ski buddies just put it in there boats this year - works good. The guy will give you your money back if it doesn't work for you in 30 days. It is very plug and play and he is good at answering emails if you have pre-sales questions. my boat is a 2003 as well so I'm assuming you have a paddle wheel - does your normal speedo still show speed? if it does then maybe you have another issue and should check the paddle wheel input in your perfect pass module that is mounted under the dash. If you can include pictures of your whole dash that will be cool. https://www.nauticlaugic.com/ Id probably recommend the Malibu specific version (NL4-BU) instead of the Perfect Pass version (NL4-PP) -
Shouldn't be leaking like that, and you can service yourself if you have the special grease. My 2012 is still on the original grease. Supposed to be good for 10 years - no leaks or wobbles yet, but trailer is mostly used for a sub 10 mile round trip from garage to the ramp.
-
I tried negotiating on some 2024s but the higher MSRP plus lack of rebate, the cost difference was substantial and the dealers didn't seem very hungry to move verses leftover 2023s of any flavor. Rates suck though, and from my discussions that is killing a lot of potential deals right now.
-
I guess that depends on your cash vs loan position. Rates are not exactly going down Not to mention - your trade in is worth less now
-
Considering dealers are still selling boats they purchased 2 years ago (2023 models) and have a glut of 2024 models they purchased a year ago that are unsold, it will be interesting to see which current Malibu dealers are going to take on even more inventory from all the Tommy's inventory. Also, wonder if Malibu is going eat the cost of the flooring/insurance costs for boats they have shoveled off to the other dealers? Talk about a 180 degree turn from 3 years ago with the COVID supply/demand craze in pricing vs. now. Relatively good timing right now if you want a new 2023 or 2024 Malibu.

ok thanks Gary but a few questions : 1. I used the EXACT same GPS unit on my 2016 malibu LSV 25 and it worked fine. Why would it work intermittently on a 2019 malibu 25 LSV ? 2. Why would it work perfectly sometimes and then show us in the middle of Montana other times ? If the GPS unit on the boat wasnt providing any reference voltage then it would NOT work at all. Its working about 75% of the time perfectly. Let me ask this - what the hell GPS antennas are you guys using on your 2019ish malibu LSV;s ? What gain and bias voltage specs ? They are all cheap sh!t from Amazon made in China, so there isnt a much more expensive or seemingly better one to buy ... Maybe this amazon antenna is just defective, spend another $15 and try again ?

Tell her you made this one more marketable for the trade in. -
I was negotiating on a few Tommy's boats last week. Deal still wasn't where I wanted it to be given I'm not close to t hem, so just closed on a leftover 2023 23LSV within a few hours from me. Prices are REALLY good right now at the dealers I was working with. If it wasn't for summer about to ramp up and wanting a boat, I would have held out even longer...

02 Sunscape LSV 21' (freestanding) Bimini
asnowman replied to SkipGundlach's topic in General Discussion Area
Yeah, the big issue with biminis is that they don't do very well in strong winds. Running a boat at 25+ generally creates a bit of a breeze. I have seen some boats without straps to their biminis, but they are for sitting or slow cruising. The straps are so important on our response, I keep extras on board after having a couple break last year (the straps were origional from 2005). I think straps are fine, the rear straps can be more vertical, which should not impede access to getting in and out of the boat -

If it's helpful to anyone else, I contacted my local Malibu dealership and they cross-referenced the part number I provided (5413015). Malibu updated the part number to 5413521. I found the new part number on Great Lakes Skipper. Should be here on Friday, so I'll report back if it's an exact match. I wasn't looking forward to the epoxy/repair route on old brittle plastic. In a rare turn of events, my wife saw the broken part and when I told her I was having a hard time finding a replacement she said, "I guess it's time for a new boat"......should have struck while the iron was hot! -

You have a point. It seems you could save about 21,837.41 Dominican Pesos on the one in your link from AliExpress. Let me know how it works. -
It was, but the hull ID had a different designation too. It was S vs G for the sunscape 23 lsv.

02 Sunscape LSV 21' (freestanding) Bimini
SkipGundlach replied to SkipGundlach's topic in General Discussion Area
Thanks for the bounce on that - but our pole is astern, being a Vdrive. However, your point is taken about a slot; we had that on our conestoga-wagon-look full-length cover/shade (ShadeTree brand) for the sailboat and its backstay astern and the inner stay forward. We'll have to rig it before designing; I'm guessing, with the nature of the bimini vs the ShadeTree (which used flexible fiberglass wands like a pop tent for camping) that it would be a velcro'd slot through which the line was passed during setup. Still looking for ideas/examples on the bimini itself, and hoping to not have the straps or pole-solids (a pole section could be vertical rather than the strap on an angle, further back attachment) astern be in the way of entry from the dock/sides... And, of course, the higher the space under the bimini the further intruding into the strap line path the bimini would be... (I have to quit thinking like a cruiser; this won't be a transportation vessel, and the bimini won't primarily be for keeping the weather out! ☺) -
Wasn't Wakesetter just a package on pretty much anything at the time?
-
I believe the raptor engines were the ones with different O2 sensors precat vs postcat. Definitely swap them around before you start replacing them because most of the time there’s something else going on to cause them to send the O2 sensor codes.

Hi, anybody moved the Medallion II Series speedo to use a universal GPS Speed Sender such as: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006494652580.html?src=google&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=631-313-3945&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Google_7_shopping&albagn=888888&isSmbActive=false&isSmbAutoCall=false&needSmbHouyi=false&albcp=20225808915&albag=&trgt=&crea=en1005006494652580&netw=x&device=c&albpg=&albpd=en1005006494652580&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3ZayBhDRARIsAPWzx8op8WIUjciX99q9s5drkaE2H-ADdFc45WzXemMt_0-7UBlPyclJHIMaAkX8EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&aff_fcid=d09844e782ee4823a34527831c457644-1715874777141-09926-UneMJZVf&aff_fsk=UneMJZVf&aff_platform=aaf&sk=UneMJZVf&aff_trace_key=d09844e782ee4823a34527831c457644-1715874777141-09926-UneMJZVf&terminal_id=db077fc82ec7456281b8543deb5ea0bc&afSmartRedirect=y any pointer or success? thanx Mart

You may also find the coast guard tag doesn't match the full model of the boat. On our 02 23 LSV wakesetter, the coastguard tag said it was a sunscape. Didn't matter to anyone, just a curiosity.
-
I went back and forth on this topic when I refreshed my trailer. I have the oil bath hubs and actually, I like them. Reason being is they don’t fling grease like my old trailer, and it’s an easy pretrip inspection using the sight glass caps. The downside is I had to drill and extract the fill plugs the first time. You would want to use thread sealer on them to prevent seizing and if you don’t see leaks, you know the fluid is still in there. I don’t see why a decent hands on person couldn’t drill and tap the existing hubs and install an NPT plug themselves and I can guarantee a machine shop could do it. Bearings would be the same, but you’d want to make sure you have double lip seals on the back side and use permatex on the caps as the UPF service documents indicated.

02 Sunscape LSV 21' (freestanding) Bimini
asnowman replied to SkipGundlach's topic in General Discussion Area
Ski partners of ours have a Tantrum with a skylon (or flyhigh) pole. Their bimini has a zipper and hole in it, almost identical in set up to the way the bimini is on our wakesetter. Their bimini is not walk under height, as it is really only to give a little shade to the driver and spotter. In theory, you should be able to modify a bimini to allow the front brace to pass through it, via a re-inforced slot, or a zippered opening. something like what is seen here. https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/forum/nautique-topics/general-nautique-discussion/24966-10-foot-pole-on-a-97-snob I would think a canvas shop should be able to do this pretty easily. -

oldjeep replied to SkipGundlach's topic in General Discussion Area
Well the min height is likely based on your (MN) average 6ft tall person wanting to walk under it That being said - pretty sure the bimini on my inlaws Nautique 200 is a lot lower than that -

the gauge still works and it is the combo unit in the picture. the pp works on rpm but doesn't show speed at all. I haven't heard of Nautic laugic. I will have to look into that. sounds like it's relatively plug and play.
