Can you give me a lift?

One of the dead engine hatch lifts: Port Cubby: Glove compartment: Not at the boat but I expect we're OK... ☺

Can you give me a lift?

Typically they print right on them saying which end is up. Pretty sure they are gas though.

Can you give me a lift?

I saw that on the various sites; the only reason it looks that way is that the barrel broke off when whatever it was bent the shaft which would otherwise be down ☺

Can you give me a lift?

I remember one of the boat maintenance threads from years ago established the idea that the “lift” should be installed with the reservoir up and the piston down. That way the fluid in the reservoir always sits on the seal, which should keep the seal moist and help it last longer. Your photos show them to be installed upside down.

Can you give me a lift?

I don't - but I'll want whichever is the strongest, and as both are likely relatively old (mebbe original), having the other as spare in case of the first aging out is prudent ☺ (The only good one of the aft is the port cubby...)

Can you give me a lift?

I'm trying to visualize needing 2 for the "forward cubby"???

What's the story with Skier’s Pier?

Brief history for you. Skier's Pier was a long time, privately owned Malibu dealer in Southeast Michigan, preceded by Aqua Sports Marine who previously represented Malibu (~30 years ago). The ownership of Skiers Pier changed hands a hand full of hears prior to being purchased by Malibu. The former owner of Skier's Pier was a mess to put it mildly. All of us in that market were excited when Tommy's bought them as we all hoped the black cloud would clear. Tommy's bought them and the black cloud over them remained.

    SOON!!

Actually, I got right up. The issue of the time was that I had severe patellar-femoral arthritis, and my leg muscles had atrophied due to lack of use from the pain upon standing. Which meant I couldn't stand from the heels-on-butt position - I let go after a hundred or so feet of no-way-José trying to stand. Enter two TKAs, and my legs are recovering nicely; I can't quite sit on my heels yet (flexibility is ALMOST there), but I CAN stand from a chair or a toilet or the floor without using my hands. It will be another couple of weeks before I can get in the water behind the boat being delivered about the same time I arrive at the lake, and we'll shortly see about my ability to rise from the squat which gets me out of the water ☺ But thanks for the thought. I just Free-To-Good-Home-scored a new pair of 172cm Obrien combos, the outer shell to the more-modern HO boot I tore (size 14s) getting into it last Independence Day week, and out of the water I rode without being able to stand has now been repaired and restored, and my son is whittling away at the possible places my custom 72" HO with the two custom XXXL full boots is hidden when he got it for safekeeping while we lived aboard a sailboat, so one way or the other I'll be back on the water soon! Thanks for thinking of me ☺ L8R Skip

    SOON!!

I recall your posts on BallofSpray about difficulties getting up out of the water. Real talk: buy a new ski. Don’t waste your time. Get a radar session. Unless you figured out getting out of the water again, then the senate is a great buy. I dont get why people spend time and money on a boat but refuse to upgrade very old skis. The new ones are so much more forgiving!
  12. Update... been fishing with magnet for last few days with flew magnet and haven't found anything with magnet, there is not a inspection plate. however i was able to borrow a borescope from a friend and was able to find 3 small freshly broken pieces of what looks like parts of that gear and they don't look like they are big enough to cause any damage. i have looked for hours and haven't been able to find anymore pieces but there has to be a couple more pieces in there somewhere, pretty sure the gear got busted to pieces when it hit the flywheel. i have a new starter that will be here tomorrow. thoughts on running as is??

Can you give me a lift?

Yup, that'll do it. All the lifts other than the glove compartment are the same on our boats, and the Amazon offer is for a pair; I'll get 4 (engine takes 2 and the aft storage one each) and save the best of the 2 remaining ones for the forward cubby. Glove compartment seemed OK when I surveyed the boat but I won't have that in hand again for a couple of weeks so will delay ordering until I can do all at the same time. Y'all are the best! Can you give me a lift?

On my 2003 21' Sunscape LSV engine hatch and I think the rear storage hatches use the same ones. Not sure on the glove box. Used to work in Holland and live about 40 miles SE of there. JR PRODUCTS GSNI-5200-30

Can you give me a lift?

That would be awesome! I did do some checking on the sites earlier mentioned, and the MalibuParts numbers are, from my correspondence with them: (Me) 5611003 and 5611004 are the only 2 lifts I see for a 2002 sunscape 21. The shorter is identified as typically used in the glove compartment. Is the longer used everywhere else? 1 each (2 total) side and forward (1) compartments and 2 over the engine? Thanks. (Answer)That is correct. The shorter is used for the glove box and the rest are the larger one. However, as a Prime member, I get free shipping from Amazon, and it may be better pricing as well. The other sources listed (or found in RV sites) has dozens of lifts, in varying strengths and lengths, which is cool if I were interested in mucking about with changes, but until I get a great deal smarter about my boat, I'm going to follow the KISS principle. So, anyone else looking on: the 003 is the glove shortie. The 004 is used for all the other lifts. Looking forward to your link, and thanks to all who've participated. Thanks again. L8R Skip

Can you give me a lift?

Amazon has them too. I've got some extras that I can get the part number for you once it gets light out.
  18. Try eBay as well. You might try eBay as well. recently I have seen several items for the 07 models. Just a thought.

TXI - end of the line?

Just come across photos of 97 Moomba. Boat was a Stejcraft powered by a 200hp Suzuki. The Stejcraft was used for all 3 skiing disciplines, as far as I can remember there was no wakeboard comp. How times have changed.
  20. Hey guys, Its that time of year and I'm starting to prep the boat for the season. I will be changing out the transmission fluid for the first time since owning this boat which iv owned for 2 years. (its a 1996 Echelon XL) The transmission in the boat is the Velvet Drive 10-17-004. I have picked up a syphon pump and some Mobil ATF D/M. The question is: Will this be a good choice for the application? Linked here is the specs. https://www.mobil.ca/en-ca/lubricants/for-business/heavy-duty-lubricants/products/mobil-atf-dm Comparing the specs and recommendations it seems to meet the requirements, however I tend to overthink things and just want to be sure. Thanks!

What's the story with Skier’s Pier?

Some things you just had to be around for, kind of like if someone references sperrys or taking off their shirt at a boat ramp. If you know, you know…
  23. Congrats, that color is going to look awesome on the water! Have similar scuffs on the hull of mine as well. Will be addressed during ceramic coating this week, but interesting that yours had them also. As for the new cover system, I actually sort of like the functionality of the hooks and single ratchet, but have similar longevity concerns (the loops on the corners seem like a real weak point). How do you like the Rev12's? I opted for Rev10HD's, a full amp re-power, and swapping out the pathetic factory sub for a JL M7. Night and day difference on sound quality.
  24. @shawndoggy - just wanted to say thanks... Took me most of the winter to find a stupid black box as sadly the version I had was not available anywhere ended up having to order from the dealer at 2x the price of all the out of stock places I found on line. On the bright side hull is wet this spring and stereo is back to new again!

What's the story with Skier’s Pier?

But what's up with all the jokes about them? Where they some sort of bad/unique/other? I saw a few in passing but now with the Tommy's stuff a lot more references to them and I just don't have the history to or geographic proximity to get it and got curious.

What’s your rpm surfing in “surf left” preset which has wedge in 3? I need to double check but think I was at 3700 with just my wife surfing and 3 year old on boat. Seemed a little high, was set at 10.8mph, but this is literally my first week captaining a surf boat so all this is new to me. eta: I also had a fun incident today where the rear fat saks would not drain. I hit go home (and drain later) and the front and middle drained and dash said rear had but it seems it was actually filling just the rears and continuously flowing out the side from overflow? Messed around for 15 minutes and could not drain anything out the rear sacs. The only thing that fixed this was to shut the batteries off and then hit drain again and they drained properly. Will bring this up at my 10hr service later this week. Also have been getting repeated “auto bulge fault” message on the dash, but the hull is pretty dry.
