You are correct. You can only make those memories with the kids when they are the right age.

Most opt for the larger 1060, but the 1069 is fine too. Same diameter, yes, the 1060 holds maybe 1/4 of a quart more. -

Yes, it does if there are pitots on the transom. Around 2003 was the transition years to paddlewheel (then more recently to GPS) - Yesterday

Supposedly Malibu's rebates expired yesterday, I bet they put them back in place in short order. Lots of 2023 still sitting out there. Talked to someone at a Tommy's & they said the "Fire Sale" hadn't started yet, but would be in-touch once it does.

2011 21 VLX potential purchase...opinions please
69charged replied to 69charged's topic in General Discussion Area
So, I pretty much have everything sorted out so far. The tank filling and drain issue has been sorted out. Plugged a couple plugs in and things work ok. Still won’t drain the front tank. Took it home and worked through it pretty quick to find the drain pump was blowing fuses. Pulled the pump out and too it apart. Was hard to turn, so I took the motor out and lubed it up. Got it working enough to drain the tank. Got a couple pump cartridges so I can change them out as we drove through Bismarck, North Dakota so I’ll be able to swap it out when I get back. And I bought an extra for a spare Next up was the wedge actuator. Took it off and took it apart. Was a bit damp in there but everything seems to be ok besides the mounting tab. Going to try machine one out of aluminum, and if anyone reading this knows where I can get actuators that don’t work, I’ll take them off their hands! Currently sitting in Provo, Utah for work. Took a trip to Taylor’s Boats. Beautiful place. Picked out an M220 for when it’s time to upgrade!! 😂 Was looking for some parts and swag. Didn’t have everything I needed, but they said Malibu Parts is just down the road. Ya don’t say!!!! So, a quick call over there and they said come on up! So we went there and met Spencer and Steve from Malibu Parts and got loaded up with some things I was going to order anyway. Spencer was great to meet and talk boats and parts with. I can definitely see spending some more money there in the future. Tried to find some used actuators, but no luck so far. Anyway, thought I’d give an update where we are on the boat side of things. -

how many zero off speed control issues wag solar flares?
CDAWake replied to tvano's topic in Maintenance, Tech Info & Troubleshooting
I don’t think so. There currently aren’t any GPS issues. https://www.nstb.tc.faa.gov/realtime-plots.html -
I'm a new boat owner, I bought in mid april, went new 2024 on the basis there wasn't a massive difference in price between new and used factoring shipping/uncertainty and my ability to offload with warranty if needed (i did not expect the dealer/prep fees which brought me back to reality) I spent weeks deciding on cash vs loan, its hard to make these rates make sense for what i'd consider a toy i contemplated waiting out this tommys process but i felt by the time you *might* get a closeout deal, you've probably missed the summer season here and are looking towards next anyway and I wasn't willing to let another summer go by and not start creating memories. We also loved the one the dealer had so its not like we were settling the original plan was to wait 4-5 more years and get a boat, but we all assume we have more time but you just never know and I didn't want to regret waiting

@theloungelife not sure where you are in Utah but on my previous boat I used SLC Trailer (801-995-5260) to service my wheel bearings. He recommends servicing boat wheel bearings every year. He would pull the vaults off clean the bearings, inspect them and replace the seals and repack the bearings and reassemble. He is mobile and came to my house. It’s worth the peace of mind for me to do it every year. My new to me boat is a 2021 and I will likely have him start servicing my trailer this fall. I don’t trust the thin vault oil.

GingerSkier replied to GingerSkier's topic in Maintenance, Tech Info & Troubleshooting
Thank you, @BlindSquirrel. Are you saying the 1069 is the short version of the 1060 or the 1060 is the shorter one? What would be the difference otherwise? They’re the same diameter, yes? -

The 1069 filter is good but the smaller version of 1060. Dealers choice on that one. You can download the engine manual at the top of this forum under boat specs, it will tell you how often to do the fluids. Me? I do the trans every other year or so. I use an air powered break bleader to suck it out, got it at Harbor freight… love it. And put back as much as I take out. -
I don't have anything plumbed in. Just fat sacks with a pump

Thank you, @BlindSquirrel and @SkiPablo. I will buy those tonight. I have the standard Chevy. An aside, do you guys pump out your transmission fluid annually? What’s your process and what do you recommend there? Thanks! -

SkiPablo replied to GingerSkier's topic in Maintenance, Tech Info & Troubleshooting
if you have a standard Chevy 350 it takes 5.5 quarts of any 15w40 - Mobil Delvac 15w40 is what I use but alot of people use Rotella - if you want rotella they have a full synthetic T6 15w40 version at Walmart. Most of us just get what is on sale b/c you change it every year. and wix 1069 or equivalent filter (can get at oreillys) If you have a mercruiser engine I'm not sure on the filter or oil requirements. -

Oh yeah, use the drain hose on the bottom of the engine. Don’t be another victim of getting a siphon tube stuck in the dip stick tube. -

Napa gold 1060 is the oil filter you need. Mine takes 5.5 quarts of regular delvac diesel oil 15w 40. Cheapest place to get it is Walmart, that I’ve found. -
Hi, all! I will be changing my motors oil and filter tomorrow afternoon and was looking for guidance as to what products you guys put into your engines. I have a ‘98 Sunsetter with the 5.7 350 EFI. What I’m reading is to get marine grade 15W-40 Full Synthetic Marine Oil but all I’m finding is 15W-40 Full Synthetic Diesel Oil. Additionally, what brand/size of filter should I be looking for? The one in the manual no longer exists, I don’t believe. Do you have a guess as to how much oil I will need? Thanks, all!
