Help With New Boat Selection MXZ 23' vs 24' vs LSV

Sub floor ballast eliminates a ton of space. Get it a G and you'll notice. Not sure on the vinyl of the Centurion. They are a polarizing look that's for certain. And when I look at the dash, I think I am looking at dual screen PC set up.... @Txstojis right on the 'seadek.' The in house Bu stuff is far less than the name brand materials. The XT24 is a nice boat. It will be a decent step up in price from a 23 LSV or MXZ. You'll be able to get an equally equipped 25 LSV for less than the XT24.
  3. for my scenario, the ramfill is actually a Con because i have a ~7min no-wake zone ride, so i can generally be close to full as soon as i'm in open water even in my 8-9min filling Axis. a neighbor bought a 2017 centurion with ramfill and we pump filled on way out of no-wake, and then once there needed to drive around for 2-3 min at 15mph to finish filling whereas normally, i'd just start surfing. with the fast pumps these days, ramfill time advantage is minimal and i think its a con to need to move - no filling while floating in a cove. And ramfill is only half the total ballast, still must wait for pumps to do their jobs. Sales guy once told me ramfill is an option on Centurions, if you custom order you can have pumps fill those tanks instead. i wrote up lots of observations thoughts in the 2024 Boat Show thread about my first and only visit to a Centurion dealership (during a serendipitous business trip). in general, they seemed pretty nice, definitely liked the Ri over the Fi. the Supremes were a step-down but save you $70K and were at least as good as an Axis build quality but each brand has quirks -- for centurions i noticed couple quirks i don't like such as the shallow storage, battery/stereo setups were awkward, and fact that if you turn off boat while ballast is full there's a fewminute countdown to auto-emptying the ballast (to avoid hydrolock upon re-start). so if you are full ballast and stop to swim for 10min, the ballast will auto-empty and you need to re-fill upon re-start (certainly not a catastrophe, but annoying). never heard anything bad about surf wave on their latest boats especially, but never ridden behind one and no dealers near me so not a likely option anyway

Unfortunately it’s Tommy’s. And they aren’t the most helpful on parts.

    Rear ballast no draining

I have a 2018 23LSV. Blower is not working and rear ballast bags will not drain. Same issue being discussed. Fuses are good for all three. Blower works with 12 volts applied. So, it sounds like the ground issue. Can anyone explain where the ground is connected. I looked everywhere and don't see any grounds mot connected.

    Tommys vs Malibu

Yep, this was the announcement I referenced on Wednesday… two down, ten to go!
  8. First time out these season, 2022 Malibu M220 50 hours - we powered on the radio & connected via bluetooth to the iphone - the displays show the song & I can skip tracks but cannot adjust the volume (up). Since the volume is stuck on minimum / “0,” theres no sound. Rotary dial and touch screen have no effect. Same in FM. Any troubleshooting ideas?
  9. Just picked up a 2013 247 LSV. Boat ran fine with no issues until I got it home. Went to go throw it in the water and would just get a clicking sound from the starter. Tested the batteries and found one wasn’t holding a charge so ending up just swapping out both batteries since it’s a new to me boat. I had also pulled and tested the starter. During the bench test it would engage but would hardly spin. Ended up with a new starter as well. I can click the screen 5-6 times and it will fire and run with no issues. Once I shut it down it will repeat itself with the intermittent starting issues. If you jump the starter it will fire every time. I went ahead and threw a starter relay on it as well before the season to play it safe. I’ve checked over the battery cables and cleaned them up. Has anyone else had this issues? Any help is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

    T250 Cooler??

Anyone try anything different? The igloo is discontinued.
  11. @Malibluesthread is 4 yrs old; start a new one and post some details so we can help you
  12. Following up on this having the same issues. What ended up being the culprit?
  13. System voltage from the battery cable connection on the starter post goes through the red circuit breaker on the ECM mounting bracket to the three 20 amp fuses on the engine harness. From there, voltage goes to the fuel pump relay, ignition relay, and starter relay. The starter relay has a red, two yellow/red, and a yellow/black wire. When the starter relay is energized by the ignition key switch, voltage goes from the relay pin 30 red wire to the relay pin 87 yellow/red wire and to the small post on the starter solenoid to engage the starter. Check the starter by connecting a jumper wire from the large red cable post to the small yellow/red wire post to see if it engages and cranks the engine. Check the red circuit breaker, the three 20 amp fuses on the engine harness, and check the starter relay. Also check the battery to engine block ground cable connections.

  15. Need some help! Having a no start issue. Started fine during winterization, no I have no crank at all. Turn key to run, fuel pump primes and gauges scan as normal. For clarity, I replaced the throttle panel, but everything is hooked back up as it was (throttle cables/circuit breakers/etc). Batteries have been on noco all winter, and show 12.7V. All other items work appropriately when turned on as well. Things I’ve done: Kill switch: Good continuity. Fuel pump doesn’t prime when disconnected, does prime when wires are connected and when wired appropriately on switch. Seems like normal operation here. Tested ignition switch, and I have 12v on I/A with key on, and 12v at S/I when cranking. From what I’ve read, that’s exactly what should happen. Tested starter: 13v at starter while resting, 0 volts while cranking on solenoid. Tells me that something is interrupting the start sequence prior to the starter. Starter turns but does not engage while jumping it. 12V on both sides of slave solenoid. Neutral safety switch: Continuity across terminals. Also won’t start with wires connected to each other. Ordered another one just in case, but it seems this is operating normally as well. Relays near ECM: All 3 are clicking. I couldn’t find a diagram to identify which is which, but all are clicking either in run, or in start. I swapped 2 of them just to check (again, not sure which ones I even swapped) with no change.
  16. The 'Bama team boat with a 6.2L looks like a winner: https://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Boat_Promo&postid=69823
  17. ChadFulton - The socket cap screws you reference from amazon are standard vs. metric. If they work, I guess they work. Bakesonline.com has a great reputation and the replacement screws they sell for this pump are metric M5 x0.8. Either one will probably work. I wonder which one the pump is actually designed for? Thanks for your input.
  18. Not as pretty but 12bux got me 6 netted drawstring sports bags from wally. 4 ropes each with their own bag now under the rear corner seat behind the cooler
  19. I'd say the new malibu are about 5min so much faster now based on the LSV and mxz I just drove. @Txstoj what do u think of the vinyl c ok mparison? As I noted I thought it felt cheap as in below my 18axis at the show but only was in it a bit and can't recall if I noticed a dif between the fes and ris which might be different too. I wish more boats had ballast sub floor like supra I haven't seen anything better yet. They have plenty of storage in the rear with no visible bags taking it away. When full the mxz has 0 rear storage which pissed off my wife.

    White Smoke from Exhaust

Mine smokes every Spring until the fogging oil is burned off. If it runs fine and the white smoke has stopped, declare victory.
  22. With the new high flow pumps that Malibu uses, I'm not sure that ram fill has much of an advantage anymore. I haven't timed it with a stopwatch, but it's supposedly about 3 minutes to fill our new 23 LSV. They are fast! My main issue with Centurions is the storage depth is VERY limited. Like roughly half the total storage volume of the same length Malibu. Maybe if you lived on a lake with a boathouse that doesn't matter, but when we go boat camping, we need all the space!
  23. I went from a 2019 23LSV to a 2023 Ri230 last summer. Both my wife and I love the Ri230 way more than the malibu. I loved malibu for so long (2 malibus and an axis in the past) but this boat blew us away. I have the ZZ6 motor in mine = M6. pros: surf wave is way bigger with much larger pocket. With the tab system boat is much easier to drive when surfing and don’t have to hold so much pressure on the steering wheel fighting against the deployed gates. Rough water ride with the deeper V is soooo much better than the LSV. The 230 does weigh more but it just feels so much more substantial and beefy on the water. Interior feels more plush and stylish compared to our plain looking malibu. Gatorstep soft grip is a plus over the seadek (2019) or the in house malibu stuff they use now. Dual screens on the dash are nice and adjusting to the new menus was not hard to learn. I got a boatmate trailer with ours which i think is better than the Malibu built trailers. Do not get standard trailer- Extreme (i think). 87 gallon gas tank is nice and while i have no measurable data, i feel like i am using less gas surfing and my surf RPM’s (3500 at 11.4mph) are lower than the 3700-3800 I had in the malibu. Tower bimini is easier to stow/deploy and its bigger. cons: other than the ob storage (which is huge) there is nowhere to keep skis in the boat. no compartment on either side is long enough like i had on the malibu. interior storage is not as deep as the malibu due to the ramfill tanks. surfing bowrise is worse than the malibu but the center stinger plate will help get the nose down and make the wave longer. Tower pylon can be difficult to double loop a rope because its so tall. Overall i am super happy with the boat but need to spend more hours on it. Been working too much and only have 13 hours on it since August last year.
  24. Funny you brought up the centurions. Im interested in the ram fill ballast but I've never seen a centurion in person. The vinyl looks cheap? What about this new 22' centurion that they have for $140K? I know its not in the same league as the boats youre talking about here....

Check with your Malibu Dealer if they can’t find it. Looks like 6 different parts.
  26. I suspect the now area would be the main area you’d notice.
  27. Ronnie is the helm only back 3" felt more than that I'd have guessed almost a foot by feel of the aft. That said this feels like far and away the biggest difference having been in both now.
  28. Anything else I should be comping? Maybe an RI230 but I felt like the interior in the centurions felt cheap at the boat show and with a sticker of like 240 that was just weird.
