    • It was definitely a strange situation.  The complaint was that the boat would start and run fine when launched, but after 45 minutes the engine would stall, then crank-no-start, and they got towed in.  The next day their boat would start and run again for 45 minutes, until the same problem occurred.  I ran it on a flush hose, and sure enough, the engine stalled and would not restart after 45 minutes.  The fuel supply hose from the fuel tank looked like it was completely clogged with rubber debris.  The hose was replaced, but the old hose was still on my workbench the next morning.  The inside of the old hose looked to be in perfect condition again after 24 hours.  Very weird.

You are correct.  This was on FB late last night.  Good people so it's sad.  It is their storage facility:

If memory serves me correctly, they are also a former Malibu dealer.

Yeah, they were until about 2014. I think Malibu pulled their dealership after the recession because they weren't selling enough boats. I believe they did sell a good number of boats before that. Their lead salesman at the time has like 10 years of sales awards from Malibu. You can still see them in the showroom if you go to visit.

I don't believe the warranty is negated because Salt damage/Ocean Spray is already excluded:

      Exlusions:
"damages caused by atmospheric fallout, chemical treatments, tree sap, salt, ocean spray, mold, or animal droppings, lightning, hail, rain, flooding, wind, sand, floods or other environmental or natural conditions or Acts of God;"

      Acts of God 😁

      So who makes that determination?

      Malibuers!
my first time posting here. Thinking of buying a 2021 VTX. It’s still under warranty. There is evidence that it may have been run in salt/brackish water once or three times. Is the warranty negated or in anyway affected by the fact that the boat may have been in saltwater?

I don't believe the warranty is negated because Salt damage/Ocean Spray is already excluded:

      Exlusions:

"corrosion or damage, including oxidation, electrolysis including that which occurs to chrome plated, stainless, anodized or aluminum finish or the colorfastness of finish. Failure to follow the instructions within this Owner's Manual regarding corrosion prevention and operation in salt or brackish water may result in or contribute to these types of damage and are not covered under the Limited Warranty;"

"damages caused by atmospheric fallout, chemical treatments, tree sap, salt, ocean spray, mold, or animal droppings, lightning, hail, rain, flooding, wind, sand, floods or other environmental or natural conditions or Acts of God;"

"Boats that have been operated in polluted fresh water or salt water should he thoroughly rinsed with clean, fresh wats after an outing. The corrosive properties of salt water can cause umith oh is not covered under warranty.

Hardware that is damaged by brackish or salt water can eventually fail, which could cause malfunction of the hardware, even hardware chosen for its anti corrosive properties, und orthe components that are held in place by the hardware, which could result in serious injury or death to persons on-board."
