Yeah, I used a hacksaw blade, and cut a slice in each of the old ones and then was able to press/knock them out. With the metal sheath around the rubber you have to be careful you cut that but not the strut, and it does take some time. I used some 1/2” threaded rod, some washers, and a few nuts to build a puller of sorts to press the new bushings in. Oh, and make sure you remove the set screws from the strut if it’s got them before you try to cut the old bushings out.

I am not sure it is related, but I got an email this morning that Tommy's in Las Vegas will be closed temporarily, but hope to be open in a few days. No explanation otherwise.
As an avid boat owner, but otherwise being an outsider to the workings of dealerships, I see them complain all the time from every brand about warranty work. The consistency makes me think there is something to it, even though I don't understand how the service department doesn't turn a profit at the price they charge.

I have a 02 vlx and run the 1100's in the back lockers and a tube bag in the center. I run a 2419(15x12) or 2315(15x12) for surfing and a 381 for poker runs and cruise days. I got the 2315 used for a great deal or I'd have just stuck with the one 2419.
For your ballast I would suggest a 15"x12" for surfing.
The 1847 (14x14.25) looks to be a bit to much prop pitch for surfing with your ballast set up.
