    • Hi all,

I’m looking for material suggestions for replacing the deck plate which covers the fuel tank in my 2001 Escape 23’ wakesetter. The original material is an aluminum honeycomb panel 1” thick covered by carpet. Since my boat is a project boat which was submerged and rebuilt after Hurricane Harvey, the aluminum corroded and has collapsed under foot pressure.

I would like to replace with something a bit more robust. I would also like to use this as the start to an interior upgrade, where I replace the carpet with a custom SeaDek or Gatorstep design (set back from the edge of the board by ~1/2”).

I was thinking about routing a round edge on Coosa board, finishing the top edge/sides with Awlgrip or something similar. In the future, I plan to replace the carpet and apply the same round edge/awlgrip finish on the fiberglass decking.

Has anyone done anything similar or have alternate suggestions?

    • We are considering purchasing a new to us boat in the 60k price range.  We are coming from an early 2000’s x star we have had for 10 plus years.  There is a 2013 Malibu wakesetter 22 mxz with 475 hours (one screen recently replaced ands other one works fine) and a 2016 Axis A22 with 260 hours in our area.

      We surf and wakeboard 60/40.

What are the pros and cons of each boat and what would you choose?

      TIA
