  1. Hello -- I have a 2012 Malibu Response LX that has started throwing service required on the in-dash display. Boat has been running normally all season until this started. Taking it off the lift the other day, it was pulsing a bit at idle. Otherwise, it seemed okay. Then pulling a skier, the power cut out while taking off. Let it sit for a bit and then it worked fine. Since then (the rest of that night and another day), I continue to see the intermittent behavior. Service required continues to show up regularly even if I clear the screen. Sometimes it pulls fine, sometimes it cuts power pulling a skier out. Twice it has even idled at a much higher RPM than normal. Reading online, it seems like there were a lot of CAT sensor issues around 2008, but not sure if those would apply in a 2012 Response LX. I've certainly never done any work on that part of the boat, so not sure where it to even begin when looking at cat issues. I've tried to gather fault codes. All but one time, there have been 0 codes. Given I've seen service required maybe 30 times, this might not mean anything or be related, but just once I was able to get the following: PPS1 SPN 91 CM 0 DATA VALID BUT BELOW NORMAL RNG FMI 18 OC 13 Any suggestions of where to begin? The nearest dealer is at least an hour and a half away and I'm generally not too afraid to try some fixes myself first before paying a dealer to try things out. Thanks!
  2. I changed the oil last night in my 2020 LSV, and attempted to record it in the service mode in the command center. In the previous OS, within the settings menu was a service button to check off maintenance items accomplished. For the life of me, I could not find it anywhere in the menu/service/diagnostics. Am I missing something? TIA.
  3. Malibu crew! Just purchased a 91 Malibu Flightcraft 18xl inboard. 687 hours, well looked after and very excited to be in and behind it. Any info from past ownership, advice, problems you had to deal with and even good times you had, would love to hear it all.
  4. Looking for advice on how you would all proceed here, and also a heads up so no one else runs into this. I have a 2017 24MXZ pics attached and had a recent warranty issue involving Taylors Boats (TB), Malibu and Indmar. Here is the high-level overview of the situation, with full details below for anyone looking for a good read! Always serviced at TB (local Malibu Dealer) on schedule. Paid over $900 to have my boat serviced and summer prep at TB, including replacing the impeller and cleaning sea strainer Less than 3 hours of use later (2 trips to the lake) warning light came on and the engine overheated heading back to the marina, causing damage to the wiring harness. TB told me Indmar was rejecting warranty because I had debris in my sea strainer. After talking with Malibu, told by them TB denied every cleaning my Sea Strainer. Called TB with Malibu on the phone, TB confirmed record (I have receipt) of cleaning it. Talked with Indmar, they said they had no record of anything being submitted, but confirmed if Sea Strainer contained significant debris, they would reject the warranty claim. TB claims they never denied cleaning my sea strainer to Malibu, and that Indmar was aware of the situation and rejected the claim. TB attempted to charge me $1400 over the quoted price, while still trying to resolve the situation. Have attempted to recreate the amount of debris in the pics from TB of my Sea Strainer at the same lake, in multiple boats ranging from 3 hrs of use to 60 hrs of use, and haven’t been able to come close to recreating it. Attempted a conference call with TB, Malibu and Indmar to at least resolve conflicts and find a resolution, but haven’t been able to get them to do that. Paid $2500 for work so I could get the boat and enjoy what's left of summer. What would you all recommend I do? I feel like I am getting the run-around, and am getting pretty frustrated. Considering the boat has an MSRP of $209k, I’m on my 3rd Malibu (the boats are amazing) am I wrong to think this isn't right? Thanks in advance for input and advice and remember to clean your Sea Strainers Sea-Strainers Full details found HERE if you want a good read😉. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1p2FbIa0gG3OJegENbTzO5wp9HxglhU5ca57wB1Zpj_c/edit?usp=sharing
