  1. I have a 1998 Malibu Sportster with a Perfect Pass. I am having problems with my idle, and I have heard it could be related to the perfect pass system? One time last year when I put the boat in Neutral the RPM's started low and reved up to 4000! After turning the motor off and restarting, the idle was up around 1200, and could not be adjusted with the idle screw adjuster on the carb. It then miraculously was fine the next day, idling around 550. At the start of this boat season, it was idling great. However, after using the perfect pass a lot yesterday, the idle creeped up again, around 1000. I don't know how old the perfect pass is, but could it be responsible for the high idle issues? Thank you, your assistance is greatly appreciated!
  2. So I just got the boat last week and had it for the first time on the water, 2004 Wakesetter, noticed that the PP and all gauge are working but the needle of the analog tachometer doesn’t. I asked the previous owner and he said it was always working and I think it was actually working when we ran it first at his location. can anything happen on the hauling? Wind? Wires? I tried to look under the dash (and that’s a cluster of wires lol especially with that fancy sound system). Is that something that occurs often? Quick known fix? Which wire should I look at? Where? There’s a part at the engine side I should look at?
  3. Newbie here, I have spent nights reading a lot of great posts about maintenance and educational tips. Definitely worth the $ to support the Crew and save big bucks down the road. On my 2004 LSV monsoon 340 I replaced the perfect pass cable mid season last year and I must have missed a step because now the throttle linkage unscrews itself and the motor goes to idle until I reattach the linkage. Wife is not happy when it happened while skiing. I am thinking I missed a lock nut somewhere. It separates right under the bracket that holds the perfect pass cable and the 6" long throttle rod linkage. The 1" long brass nut unscrews itself from the threaded silver linkage just underneath it, right near the pop up ski pylon. I have attached a couple of pictures. I was hoping somebody could look at their set up and see what I missed if anything. Tempted to put Lock tite on it after I set the idle. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.
