  1. Hello New to the forum and in desperate need of help. Last year about this time I purchased a 2009 Malibu Wakesetter 247LSV. Instantly the family and I fell in love with it due to its size and features. I took the boat in to get serviced and found out the port side exhaust manifold had a crack in it. The service shop did a pressure test and it was dumping water. I searched everywhere and could not find another manifold here in states. I branched out and contacted Indmar Marine in Australia and found they had several in stock. I quickly purchased 1 and waited over 8 weeks for DHL to get it through customs and delivered to my door step. The new manifold was installed and we were able to take the boat out again 4 more times before we got struck with a catastrophic failure. The motor let go, apparently spinning bearings and even developing a crack in the block. I paid for Jaspers Motors to build me a brand new motor and had it installed. After the service shop took the boat out to do water testes, they discovered that there is water on the O2 sensor on the port side. The new exhaust manifold again with 4 runs on it supposedly developed a crack as well. The exhaust manifold was removed and pressure tested as well. This time it held air pressure at 15psi and water pressure at 40psi or what ever the pressure is that comes from your garden hose. There wasn't a leak. After installing it again and starting the motor, after it would heat up, water would start to come from the O2 port again on the Port side manifold. So my mechanic is assuming that when the manifold heats up, the cast aluminum expands and allows water through. Unfortunately there is no way to test it off the boat at operating temperature. Due to a Nationwide shortage, we are having zero luck locating another manifold and facing a year of no boating. I was told that they use the same manifold on different boats but unfortunately Indmar does not have a cross reference for what other boat manufactures those are. We are desperately searching everywhere for a new or even used one that might be sitting on a motor at a salvage yard. Has anyone heard what other boats these may come on? Do they make aftermarket or performance headers that I can replace the stock ones with? The Indmar part# is 531401HL. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  2. HI Everyone, I currently have a 2019 Axis A22 and am considering a trade up to a 2023 A225 or T220. Does anyone have opinions on which model is better for wake surfing? I do like the larger bow in the 225 but then also like the shape and exeterior lines on the T220. Any opinions greatly appreciated. Thx,
  3. Hi just recently bought a 1996 malibu response LX Brought it to a mechanic had him change fuel pump, spark plus , all gas filters Im having an issue with it, i run it to wakesurf 5mph-10mph for like 30min to 1 hour , after that i usually turn it off take a swim no issues then as soon as turn it on i hit 3000rpm to just cruise it will suddenly face-plant (die ) after it dies on me it wont start right away it will take about 3 min for me to wait and then it will start and run like nothing happened. Usually it happens to me every time i’m on the lake but sometimes it runs great with no issues Like i said it happens almost every time that i’m on the lake and if it happens once it will happen like 2-3 times then i usually end the day and take it home it has a 350 magnum EFI/MP MerCruiser fuel injected engine (inboard engine)
  4. Hey has anyone out there had issues with cracks in GelCoat? I recently traded up for a 2019 Axis A22 with 200 ish hours on it. Looked at the boat several times in the showroom before making the deal. The day I was picking up and doing a walk around, I noticed a fine hairline crack in the Gel Coat towards the back corner perhaps coming from stress from the Surf Gate. I questioned the dealer and they assured me that it was only cosmetic and not to worry and that it wouldn't affect my trade in value in future. Since then about 10 hours put on the boat, I've done a detailed cleaning and polishing and have noticed atleast 12 cracks in the Gel ranging from 1 inch to several inches long in different areas. Dealer still assures me that it is only cosmetic and nothing to worry about. Their reasoning is its a darker color ( Black and Wine metallic) and being in Canada the boats here experience big temperature changes which further adds to cracking. My older Supra I traded in had maybe a few very small cracks but also was a 2009. Does anyone think this is something to be really concerned with? My thoughts now are to try to trade in at same dealership to potentially avoid any issues selling in future. I honestly think it would be difficult to sell privately with visible cracks. Any opinions or advice greatly appreciated.
  5. Just picked up my 2016 23 lsv a couple weeks ago and one of the factory underwater lights flickers so i figured it would be a good time for an upgrade. But what is everyone using to replace the factory lights? I see a bunch of guys recommend the Water Dragon (new malibu) light but the screw holes are of by about a 1/2". Does everyone just drill into the hull to make new lights work or is there a direct replacement option? Thank you in advance
  6. We have had our 23 Lsv for about a month now and we are struggling with the presets we are finding when its really big its good but just to step for our riders and when we get it how they want it washes out on the other side then we move weight i would like you guys to tell me how much weight and where you put the wedge then im going to go out test them all and hope fully find some setup we like wake size is for younger people doing wake to wakes and half cabs so not massive surf wave is perfect just cannot get this wakeboard wave which is really annoying also not cannot upload photo of boat for some reason thanks for the help and recommendations
  7. Looking to upgrade the ballast system in my 2002 Wakesetter Xti. Id like to get a decent surf wake out of my 02 Xti. I understand its not made for surfing but I also understand that it is possible to get a decent surf wake out of it. With some friends and a liquid force wake shaper the surf wake is alright. However I know I can make it bigger with more weight in the back of the boat. I would rather not just throw ballast bags in the floor. Would like to hide them and save room in the boat. How much ballast will I need and where does that weight need to be distributed. If anyone has any tips please let me know. Thanks in advance, Garrett.
  8. 2018 Malibu 21 MLX Both batteries at 13.6V Boat will start with key regardless of power button state. Kill switch works as it should. Checked all fuses and relays on top of the motor as well as breakers on port side. No breakers popped at helm. I have two completely blank screens so no way to start with the code, fill bags, power up stereo etc. In normal operation I hit the power button, hear what sounds like possibly the fuel injection kick on for 2-3 seconds and then that’s it. No blowers, no screen, NOTHING!! Also checked the Grey cable coming from the 7” screen but it appears intact. Please help!! Trying to get out today. Some background....several instances of screen freezing over the past few months (attributed to low voltage), one instance of not being able to power off the boat with the power switch (checked by dealer and found to be functional), and several instances of the middle tank not filling the first 3-10 times I try (repaired 3 times and seems to be working now. What am I missing?!?!
  9. Thank you for clicking on yet another prop topic. I did actually search before starting this and either my search skills are horrible or I am actually asking something new here. Quick back story. Way back in the day I worked with Eric from OJ on selecting a prop for my MasterCraft Prostar. He set me up with a great prop for that boat and I have loved it for the 10 years I have run it. Since I just acquired a new to me 2016 T23 I went back to Eric asking about this boat. Currently I have a ACME 1235 on there and I have not been impressed. He recommended the 950-MF 15 x 13 LH and said that he specifically designed this prop for the 2016 - 2018 Malibu/Axis boats. In searching I have not found any mention of the 950-MF on any of the countless Prop threads. So I am looking for someone out there in the wild that is running this prop and can feedback as to what they think about it. I trust Eric because he didn't steer me wrong the last time I worked with him so I am ready to pull the trigger but hoping to find someone else out there spinning that screw. If I would have just looked at OJ's web site and the recommendations on there I most likely would have gone with the 1951. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  10. Hello all, I have an 09 Malibu Waksetter VLX and the stereo is all stock. The head unit volume up button no longer is clicking and is almost like it is stuck down. Every once in a while it will automatically turn up the volume on the stereo to full volume which is a problem. I have taken the head unit apart and the button is not fixable. Is there a new inexpensive head unit that you guys recommend (would love to have a bluetooth feature)? Is there a way to get another stock one? Any advice is appreciated to remedy this annoyance. Thanks, Jace
  11. Hi Everyone! Just bought my first boat. 2001 Wakesetter VLX with about 320 hours. In great shape and runs strong, but I need a couple things and was hoping you could help. 1. Previous owner took the wedge off and lost it. Any tips on buying a wedge? Can't seem to find them online. 2. Does not have a cover. Best cover? Not sure where to start.

  13. Need help identifing the water lines on a 96 malibu sunsetter. I'm installing a shower and heater and need help with water and where I should connect the lines . Any PDF files or information where I can get a layout of the motor would be nice
  14. Hi all, I have an 2021 axis with 200 hours, and recently started to see fault code with Spn 651. I would normally just reset battery and this would go away, but now it’s there every time I turn on the engine. The indmar manual is showing Injector 1 - short to power I had a mechanic change out the fuel injector, but the active fault code is still there. Anyone else had issues similar to this? Others have mentioned the issue is probably with electrical wiring to the injector shorting out but I’m not exactly sure where to start. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
  15. I'm thinking of buying the 2021 Axis A24. I currently have a 2019 Axis A22 with the 410HP Monsoon. We predominantly wake surf although there are a couple rare wakeboarders in our crew. We live on a lake at approx 500 ft elevation, so altitude isn't a problem. I'm hearing the new A24 with the M5di and the 2 to 1 transmission with larger prop is more than sufficient. Does anyone have any experience with the larger boats and the M5 vs M6. I'm also very interested in any information I can get regarding the supposed increase in gallons per hour with the new engine. I'd really rather not spend the extra money on the bigger motor if I don't need to. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
  16. I have a 2013 vlx 21 and previously couldn’t get the wedge to do anything then I found a fuse that goes to it, I replaced it and it automatically put the wedge all the way down. Now I can’t get it to come back up
  17. Want to put to rest the argument between you and your buddy who's got the faster direct drive? https://www.harbortownemarine.com/listings/malibu-response I've done a lot of digging and haven't found much conclusive information on this one. Would love to hear from someone who knows about this boat. Was this factory?
  18. I have been receiving quotes on 2020 Malibu's, and the quote will list a 20-30% dealer discount before listing the selling price. Then I got a quote on a 2021, and it was shown the same way. My question is...can I negotiate down even more? They are giving these "dealer discounts" without any negotiation so it feels like they list it this way to make you think you are already getting a deal. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

  21. Looking to add a second set of speakers to my Malibu 21 VLX. Who has done this and has recommendations? Should I add the same wet sound speakers or upgrade the whole system. Don’t love the quality of sound. Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.

  24. I just bought my first Malibu and have a couple areas I think need attention. I feel like I have a ton of free play in the steering on my 06 23LSV. How hard is it to change/adjust the steering cable? Much appreciated!!
