  1. Thought it might be a good idea to put a thread together for everyone to reference in the future if they have an oil filter part number question. Early M5/M6 engines (beginning to very early MY21 models): WIX: https://amzn.to/3RDiTu3 NAPA 7214 : https://amzn.to/3t2LrCV Late M5/M6/All LT4: https://amzn.to/467J4xA Will update if there are any changes.
  2. Trying to wrap my mind around the different engine options. In the process of shopping for a 2014-2018 23LSV but want to make sure I understand the engine details. From what it appears 2014 has the 350 GM engine that is quieter than the 6.2L? I have read that the 350 could be a little under powered when using surf gates, could I get a 2nd opinion on that? 2015-19? they were putting mostly the 6.2L Monsoon made by indmar, but is a Ford Raptor engine? Wanting to confirm this. After reading threads it seems there there is a group that deems these louder and causes more problems but not seeing any consistent problems. Could someone provide more input? Is the 6.2L Monsoon something to stay away from? M6di is when they switch back to a GM engine? Any insight in moving away from the raptor engine while it seems other manufactures were continuing to run the raptor engines? Would appreciate any help to clarify anything related to these engines as I want to ensure I know exactly what I am buying.
  3. I'm thinking of buying the 2021 Axis A24. I currently have a 2019 Axis A22 with the 410HP Monsoon. We predominantly wake surf although there are a couple rare wakeboarders in our crew. We live on a lake at approx 500 ft elevation, so altitude isn't a problem. I'm hearing the new A24 with the M5di and the 2 to 1 transmission with larger prop is more than sufficient. Does anyone have any experience with the larger boats and the M5 vs M6. I'm also very interested in any information I can get regarding the supposed increase in gallons per hour with the new engine. I'd really rather not spend the extra money on the bigger motor if I don't need to. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
  4. This past weekend, while performing the standard 10 hour break-in period for our new boat, the engine Malibu Monsoon M6DI just sputtered out and the engine cut in the middle of the lake. We were around ~8 engine hours and everything was working totally fine until the engine shut-off. We weren't pushing the engine hard, besides 15 minutes to make sure the wedge, surf gates, and PnP ballasts worked the day before. When we took it out the following day, it started up just fine on the lift, and we were casually cruising around the lake when it stopped. Currently the boat battery will turn on like normal, automatically run the blower for 3 minutes, and start up process like usual. There are NO engine codes or alarms on the HMI which is where I'm stuck. When I click the start/stop button, you can hear the engine crank and attempt to start but it wont actually start the engine (the belt just keeps spinning without turning on the engine). Even after releasing the start/stop button after a second it will continue to try to start the engine to no avail and keep revving. The only way I can get it to stop cranking is to manually turn the battery off, otherwise it would just keep trying to start the engine. From my limited engine/electronics knowledge, I'm having a hard time pin-pointing what could go wrong because it's clearly getting power from the battery to turn the crank, but something between clicking the start button to actually getting the pistons to rev isn't working. I'm struggling to diagnose and will take it to the dealership to fix this week, but was hoping for any quick advice here. I'm most confused because everything seems to working normally from a battery, fuel, oil perspective. The ignition/The engine will spin, but just not fully turn over. If anything I thought I would've seen problems when we checked to confirm the wedge, surf gates, etc. were working at slightly higher RPM, but that worked perfectly. Things I've Checked: It still has plenty of oil Batteries ~14.5V Engine is getting fuel Boat is in Neutral Hoping someone on here has witnessed the same and can help!
  5. Looking at some 2020 23 LSVs with different motors and would love some insight / opinions. The end game for me is surfing with the optimum wave...full ballast, PNP, 500 lbs of lead up front / port coffin and a 500 lb bow sac when needed. I'm in the Midwest at a lower altitude (810'). Can a M5 with a high altitude / torque prop do everything I want it to do or do I need to go bigger? Does a M6 and / or 450 require a high altitude prop? Fuel efficiency difference in the three motors (when surfing)? Are there any other factors that I'm missing? Were the transmissions / ratios all the same for 2020 23 LSVs? Thanks!
  6. Hello, first post here. I so appreciate this group. I am looking to the hive mind for thoughts on my recent boat troubles. I have a 2020 25LSV with now 157 hours. It has the M6di engine. First off, I want to say that this boat is wonderful and I love it. My dealer, TX Malibu has been very attentive with scheduled service and the most recent overheating episode. I am not here to complain, but rather see if anyone has experienced the same situation or has ideas on something I can do myself. As an aside, I do not trailer, boat is at a marina on a lift. I had trailers with 2 previous boats and with the charge for the storage, lack of use, etc, I decided from a hassle/money standpoint if I needed to have the boat trailered somewhere it was worth renting trailer or paying someone to do it. On Tuesday last week, at 154 hours, the engine overheated to about 218 degrees. We checked the sea strainer and it was empty, I called service dept and they suggested it was probably impeller. I had smelled burning rubber as soon as I got pulled up for surfing. I had been reading the woes of others all summer, but I suspect because I had scheduled services on the earlier side of things I had prevented this issue. Service came out and replaced impeller and to my knowledge installed a check valve. Boat worked great Friday for about 20 minutes, and then I noted an occasional "slip" upon acceleration that once caused the boat to go into limp mode. Engine temp fine, oil pressure fine, etc. I used the boat on Saturday and basically could get one tow in after a complete start/reset but then second or third pull the boat would go into limp mode. No engine alarms at all. I did drain 25% of ballast all around (only 2 people aboard with one surfer) and it worked for several pulls but then the problem recurred. Engine diagnostics show inactive engine alarm: SPN 7717 FMI 7 Description: Camshaft control lost I am not an engine gal, but I can understand what major parts are meant to do. When I look up camshaft sensor error for cars, the description is almost identical to what was happening with my boat. So, is it possible that the camshaft sensor got moved/knocked loose with the impeller replacement and it would be a simple fix? Has anyone else had this happen? Any ideas/thoughts/speculation is welcome. Thanks for your time and consideration.
