  1. Hi everyone, Looking for some advice as I’m having issues with my dashboard manual bilge light switch. I bought my boat about a year ago and had 0 problems until recently, I noticed that the bilge light on my driver dash started blinking. I knew this was going to be an issue and lo and behold - the bilge light now continues to stay on every time i turn on my engine or give battery power to my boat. The bilge pump continues to run and I’m afraid of going in water with this issue as I don’t want the pump to burn out. To diagnose the problem, I did the following 1. I checked the float switch, cleaned it, made sure nothing was stuck. I was still skeptical so I actually replaced the pump (Sahara 750 automatic) and the problem still exist. So it’s not a float switch being stuck issue 2. Even when I cut all 3 bilge wires from the pump, the bilge light stays on 3. Checked the current to all the wires connecting to the 2 bilge pumps on the multimeter and all have power. Fuses are all intact, but I replaced both anyway with 5 amp fuses to make sure My mechanic thinks it’s an issue with the button on the axis dashboard, except that the bilge button on the 21’ axis is connected to 1 socket that powers all the other buttons (blower + ballast pumps). He suggests I contact the dealer and get a new grey dashboard set (the one with blower, bilge, ballast etc). Has anyone had this problem and figured out a solution? My temporary solution is to just hook up the black bilge wires (ground), brown wires (auto float), and keep the brown/white disconnected. Essentially running the boat with auto bilge pump function without the manual override. The concern here is that since the bilge light is On, I’m continuously draining battery by sending power to the brown/white wire (I may be wrong in this thinking since this wire isn’t connected to anything). Also, is it possible to remove the manual line fuse to cut the power to this brown/white line since I don’t plan on using it for a while? any advice here is appreciated! My dealer is 4 hours away so I rather figure this on my own then make the drive if possible
  2. I have been "mooching" off friends and family and talking about buying for the last probably 3 years. This spring, after months of looking, finally wrote the check and dove head first into ownership. Even though prices seemed to be abnormally crazy this spring, I found what I was looking for and bought a loaded, previous owner demo, 2013 LSV a couple weeks ago. I say purchased, but what I really did was rescue this poor thing from an abusive home. I found a gentleman who didn't quite know what he had and got a steal of a deal. I knew to some degree it was in need some TLC but it may have been a bit more neglected than I thought. It has only 202 hrs on it so I am fairly certain the bones are good, I am just having quite a bit of odds and ends that are needing to be repaired. I am looking for some insight on the issues below. I worked at a Malibu dealership in the summers through college, detailing and doing simple maintenance, so I would like to do as much as I can myself to save the coin. As well as saving the labor costs, none of the shops close to me can get it in until mid July. Not surprising but would still like to have it rocking sooner than later. Issues... 1.) Equip with all four MLS tanks as well as rear P&P, center fill pump is not responding at all. This pump is crazy hard to get to and I'm wondering how to replace the cartridge. Where do I splice/plug in the new pump cartridge? The display for this tank is also reading funky, sometimes it will say it has water in it and sometimes it won't. 2.) The PW will sometimes send an error of either being unbalanced or the STBD actuator is faulting out but will also work perfectly other times. Are these easy to change out and should I do both if I'm doing one? 3.) While surfing or cruising, "automatic bilge activated" warning keeps coming up. When I stop and look to see if their is water in the bilge, it is bone dry. Is there possibly a sensor that needs to be replaced? 4.) I feel the boat is wandering when cruising. When cruising around the lake 20-25 mph, I am constantly steering back and forth to keep it on a strait line. It can also be felt down at surfing speeds but more evident at higher speeds. I'm not against bringing it to a Bu dealer, I know a couple around but I don't want to have it sitting at the dealer for 2+ weeks in the middle of summer as they are not the longest up here anyway. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Our ‘99 Malibu has been taking on a bit of water and the auto bilge has stopped working. While we wait for marina to look at the bilge pump, we want to do some diagnosis. There is a small permanently wet patch on rear right side of carpet (when standing looking toward steering wheel). Couple of questions: 1. How to unscrew that carpet area that can open to see if anything is leaking in there (center back is like a carpeted door) and 2) has anyone had a similar leak? >> I wasn’t able to add my pic Appreciate help! Thanks
  4. So I have this issue with my 21 VLX. As long as I have had it, it has always seemed to somehow fill with water in the hull beneath the engine and vdrive. It used to not be a lot but there would always be enough water that every time I got it back on the lift at the end of the day, I would remove the drain plug(beneath the vdrive) and let all the water out. Recently though, the boat seems to have a LOT of water in it just while we are out on the river, its enough that I need to drain it out(using my ballast bag pump) a few times throughout the day if we are out for many hours. My bilge pump is not working, not sure why, but even if it was working I don't think that a boat should be magically filling with water inside it(especially not this much). Could it be that the water is coming from the side port where the bilge is supposed to pump it out(typically that port is underwater when we have a lot of weight in the boat). Or could it possibly be that water is leaking from the engine coolant system somewhere like the water impeller?
