  1. Hello, I have been having issues with my 2022 Axis T23 with the M5di motor. We are having the issue of the engine management light coming on for 2 seconds and then disappearing whilst the boat is under load (fully ballasted and travelling at 10.8mph). When this happens the boat slows down to a speed less than 9mph and doesnt allow us to accelerate more. As soon as you stop the boat and put it back to neutral and go again its normal. This is happening around 4-5 times per hour of surfing. The code that is showing in the fault codes is: - Injector High Side Short to Ground - 7 (SPN 657) and (FMI 4) - Injector High Side Short To Ground - 2 (SPN 652) and (FMI 4) We have replaced both injectors which has not helped at all. We have also tried rotating injectors from other sides and checked all engine grounds and it keeps happening. We are based far away and the dealer has also tried to fix it 3 times now and cant seem to find the problem. Has anybody else had this issue or have any idea how we can resolve this?
  2. Hey Everyone, Just purchased my first wakesurf boat, a used 2015 Axis T23 with about 300 hours on it. Had the engine checked and compression check done before purchase and everything came out great. First time I went out surfing I got a service required message on my dash. Did some research and learned how to check the codes so the next time I was out I checked the error codes, but none registered. After I turn the battery off and back on the problem goes away and it will work again for 1-5 passes it seems like, so it's very inconsistent. Only comes on while surfing. No issues when idling or even driving around at 25 mph. Engine temp has held steady around 168 every time, no audio or visual distress on the engine. Trying to avoid pulling it out of the slip if I don't need to, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
  3. HI Everyone, I currently have a 2019 Axis A22 and am considering a trade up to a 2023 A225 or T220. Does anyone have opinions on which model is better for wake surfing? I do like the larger bow in the 225 but then also like the shape and exeterior lines on the T220. Any opinions greatly appreciated. Thx,
  4. Hey has anyone out there had issues with cracks in GelCoat? I recently traded up for a 2019 Axis A22 with 200 ish hours on it. Looked at the boat several times in the showroom before making the deal. The day I was picking up and doing a walk around, I noticed a fine hairline crack in the Gel Coat towards the back corner perhaps coming from stress from the Surf Gate. I questioned the dealer and they assured me that it was only cosmetic and not to worry and that it wouldn't affect my trade in value in future. Since then about 10 hours put on the boat, I've done a detailed cleaning and polishing and have noticed atleast 12 cracks in the Gel ranging from 1 inch to several inches long in different areas. Dealer still assures me that it is only cosmetic and nothing to worry about. Their reasoning is its a darker color ( Black and Wine metallic) and being in Canada the boats here experience big temperature changes which further adds to cracking. My older Supra I traded in had maybe a few very small cracks but also was a 2009. Does anyone think this is something to be really concerned with? My thoughts now are to try to trade in at same dealership to potentially avoid any issues selling in future. I honestly think it would be difficult to sell privately with visible cracks. Any opinions or advice greatly appreciated.
  5. I've gone through all the motions (looked at used higher end boats), and decided to just order a new Axis. The price difference is not that much to get an A24, so it seems like a no brainer to get one...so I assume I am missing something. If you were buying what would you go with and why? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi, I’ve put a deposit down on a 2019 Axis A22. I’ve never been in an axis or Malibu other than at a dealership. Unfortunately I’m unable to test drive. I’m trading up from my old 2009 Supra 21 V. I’ve read almost everything I can find on the web about axis. My biggest concerns are with the surf system it has , surf gates and power wedge. In theory sounds great but there are some bad reviews floating around online that give it a poor rating. For example, fuel economy and difficult steering when using the wedge. Any opinions from actual owners would be greatly appreciated. Thx for any feedback.
  7. My 2017 Axis A24 has been having a recurring issue with the dash control of surfgate. Basically what happens is the surfgate display controls on the top of the dash screen will just disappear. I won't be able to use surfgate when this happens and it pretty much makes the gate controles deactive. When I shut off the engine and power down fully and start it back up everything goes back to normal and the gate controls appear again as if nothing happened. I have tried updating the software but this issue pressists. Anyone know what causes this?
  8. Thank you for clicking on yet another prop topic. I did actually search before starting this and either my search skills are horrible or I am actually asking something new here. Quick back story. Way back in the day I worked with Eric from OJ on selecting a prop for my MasterCraft Prostar. He set me up with a great prop for that boat and I have loved it for the 10 years I have run it. Since I just acquired a new to me 2016 T23 I went back to Eric asking about this boat. Currently I have a ACME 1235 on there and I have not been impressed. He recommended the 950-MF 15 x 13 LH and said that he specifically designed this prop for the 2016 - 2018 Malibu/Axis boats. In searching I have not found any mention of the 950-MF on any of the countless Prop threads. So I am looking for someone out there in the wild that is running this prop and can feedback as to what they think about it. I trust Eric because he didn't steer me wrong the last time I worked with him so I am ready to pull the trigger but hoping to find someone else out there spinning that screw. If I would have just looked at OJ's web site and the recommendations on there I most likely would have gone with the 1951. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  9. Hi all, I have an 2021 axis with 200 hours, and recently started to see fault code with Spn 651. I would normally just reset battery and this would go away, but now it’s there every time I turn on the engine. The indmar manual is showing Injector 1 - short to power I had a mechanic change out the fuel injector, but the active fault code is still there. Anyone else had issues similar to this? Others have mentioned the issue is probably with electrical wiring to the injector shorting out but I’m not exactly sure where to start. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
  10. I'm thinking of buying the 2021 Axis A24. I currently have a 2019 Axis A22 with the 410HP Monsoon. We predominantly wake surf although there are a couple rare wakeboarders in our crew. We live on a lake at approx 500 ft elevation, so altitude isn't a problem. I'm hearing the new A24 with the M5di and the 2 to 1 transmission with larger prop is more than sufficient. Does anyone have any experience with the larger boats and the M5 vs M6. I'm also very interested in any information I can get regarding the supposed increase in gallons per hour with the new engine. I'd really rather not spend the extra money on the bigger motor if I don't need to. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
  11. I've got a 2020 axis t22 with a M5di engine, just got it delivered brand new this march. For the first 70 hrs, the engine ran like a champ. Then it got to a point, when it start to stall for no reason when i am accelerating from idle to surf speed. It happens at around 1500-2000 rpm during acceleration to surf speed (which should be around 3500rpm), the engine just cut, then the service engine and MIL comes on with a long bee alarm. Then I just turn the key all the way off and restart, and every thing was fine. There are times that this happened 10 times a day and there are times that it ran all day with no problem. The fault codes I found was inactive: spn 4237 fmi 0 spn 4239 fmi 0 So far, I have my O2 sensors cleaned, fuel filter changed, fuel pump filter changed trying to solve this problem, but it still continue to happen at random. Does anyone have any idea about this? Any suggestions would be helpful, Thanks.
  12. Just Purchased 2019 A22. Used the boat 4 times. Went to start it yesterday and it won't start. It turns over but won't fire. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  13. Purchased a 2020 A24 this spring and am looking to see what setup everyone is using to get a good surf wave. We are coming from a '17 T22 with auto wedge. We had the old boat dialed in but the new A24 is giving me a run. We tried the following setup today. Full 750's in the rear, front and center ballast full with 300# of lead up front. 5 adults (4 when 1 was surfing) and 2 dogs on board. We tried to surf anywhere between 10.5 to 11.2 and wedge set at positions 1-5. The wave seemed to lack push and the face seemed soft. We were also noticing that the surf gate (when deployed) had water spraying vertical in the air like a rooster tail. We never noticed our surf gates spraying on the old boat. Is it possible that we have too much nose weight? Also, last year on the same boards as we rode today, we had to stand on the rear of the board to keep from eating the swim platform. Today we had to stand on our front foot and that sometimes wasn't good enough. HELP PLEASE!
  14. Hey Team - looking to change props to improve performance and manage surfing a little more easily. Here's what I'm running: 2014 Axis T22, Monsoon 330 currently running 1235 prop Ballast setup: Stock hard tanks, Wake Makers dual rear 900's, bow sack 400. (we don't always max the weight out depending on the size of the crew and how the wake it looking) Manual Wedge: down Low Elevation: 1500 ft about sea level. We MOSTLY surf but don't want to completely loose all top speed. So far the recommendations have said: Acme 2315 (wakemakers), Acme 2937 (Acme's website), OJ 905-MF (My boat mechanic).
  15. What if price was basically the same for a new 2019 A22 and a Demo MLX 2. Pros and cons anyone, what would you chose and why?
  16. New to Malibu Crew and just picked up a 2015 Axis T23 after about 4 years of researching. This site has been an invaluable tool in helping me to make informed decisions and be a educated buyer, so thank you to all who post on this site. So I have spent the last few weeks going through every single system and familiarizing myself with every piece of the boat and troubleshooting/replacing a few items that needed. As soon as we took the boat out we noticed the 4 tower speakers were going into protection mode and cutting out when we turned the volume up about 25%. Our head unit is a Sony CDX-H910UI with a volume control of 0-50... we were around level 20. After doing extensive research here and elsewhere it seemed that the gain control was the issue. Last night I got things adjusted to where everything seems to be in order. My question to this forum is whether or not this is the correct remedy. I have drawn a diagram of how I believe my system is wired that can be found here. Full disclosure, i'm an architect, not an electrical engineer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Punch line of the story is that my 4 tower speakers (Icon 8's @150RMS @ 4ohms) are running off of one amp (either a wetsounds HT1 or HT2, admittedly I didn't check). I set all the EQ's to flat and turned the volume up to 75% (number 38 on head unit) and played a 1khz test tone at 0db gain to take my voltage readings coming out of the amp. The initial reading came in at 30.52V out of the amplifier which using the formula SQRT(150 watts * 4ohms) = approx 24.49V seemed to be a little over powered. However as best I can tell the speakers are wired in parallel off of a single channel which would reduce impedance to 2ohms (2-4ohm speakers) which would mean a max voltage of SQRT(150 watts * 2ohms) = 17.32V... which is far lower than what it was set at, and is almost at minimum gain. Initally I set the gain to 17.32V and was still experiencing the same problem, and after completing the definition of insanity 6 more times, it worked fine, however the last time I believe that I inadvertently switched the left and right of the single channel (still connected + to + and - to -)... which could have affected all the wiring down the line (maybe they aren't in parallel). Bottom line, I am unsure of whether the voltage that I have set the tower speakers at is too low (which is better than too high). I have not found a definitive answer on whether you combine the wattages of speakers connected in parallel or just use the rated RMS wattage of a single speaker and the measured impedance to set your base tuning. My impedance measurements of the speakers are a nominal of 2 ohms and an actual reading of 2.9ohms (both left and right pair). Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I may just have it checked out to be on the safe side. Side note: Does anyone else have a boat where the radio memory (yellow) wire is not wired directly to the battery? When i cut my battery switch off it kills memory power to the head unit which is completely pointless... I ended up running a new 3A fused wire to the radio last night (probably need to change to a 1A but 3A was all I had on hand).
  17. Crew, just got a low hour 15’ t23 and it’s incredible. One small issue though, the regular surf side is awful. Goofy side is enormous. I’ve read this is the case in a lot of them. Looking for help on what I’m doing wrong? 650 bag in the front, all hard tanks full, 1000’s in each rear locker..I’ve played with several different set ups here and nothing works. Do I need substantial more lead weight? I’ve contemplated buying 850lbs and throwing it in the lead walkway to the bow. Looking for any and all suggestions...
  18. Hi Everyone, Looking for suggestions on a brand new 2018 Axis T22 in regards to lighting (Docking Lights, Underwater Lighting, Underseat Lighting, Tower Lighting) Any big suggestions that wouldn’t be on a regular build sheet? It’s equipped with everything for surfing and a good stereo pack but doesn’t really have all the bells and whistles yet. How bright are docking lights on the T22 vs the A22? I noticed that the t22’s Lights look a bit smaller than the A. The lights on the A almost look like the underwater lights I’ve seen. We ride a lot at night so I’m just looking for optimal lighting without overdoing it. I’ve also seen a lot of T22’s with a Light Bar which looks like it would light up the whole lake. Please feel free to post away, I could use all the help I can get. Thanks in advance!
