  1. We have had our 23 Lsv for about a month now and we are struggling with the presets we are finding when its really big its good but just to step for our riders and when we get it how they want it washes out on the other side then we move weight i would like you guys to tell me how much weight and where you put the wedge then im going to go out test them all and hope fully find some setup we like wake size is for younger people doing wake to wakes and half cabs so not massive surf wave is perfect just cannot get this wakeboard wave which is really annoying also not cannot upload photo of boat for some reason thanks for the help and recommendations
  2. Hello Malibu Family, I’m just a few months away from picking up my new 2021 23LSV and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the height of the boat (on trailer) with the tower up. Any info will help, but if you have the exact configuration below, please chime in and give me a measurement!! ‘21 23LSV w/ G5 tower & 14” trailer rims on a tandem axle.

    2021 23 LSV Review

After having spent about 20 hours in the new 23 LSV over the last two weekends, I wanted to share my review of this boat. Before I start, my background of different Malibu boats. I had a 2011 23 LSV, loved the boat, upgraded/downgraded in 2014 to a VLX for surfgate. It was great boat, had a lot of power with the torque prop, could wakeboard full ballast, 750's in rear and 1,000 triangle up front with wedge in the max setting. My favorite boat to this point has been the 2015 23 LSV (a friend's boat). Something about PWII, GM Motor, and updated dash were a good combination. I primarily wakeboard when out on the water. I help my local dealer throughout various events each year and have since 2011 and am very familiar with the changes each year but when it isn't yours, you don't always see how it impacts your boating experience. Anyways, now to the good stuff.. Some options that I ordered were: swim step, flip-down side entry seats, sliding bench seat/table, M6, Torque prop, and Rev10's on G5 tower. Fit / Finish / Storage: Either Malibu is doing a better job of having fewer spare parts floating around in the bilge or my dealer did a good job but the boat came very clean on delivery. The hinge seats are awesome upgrades and make accessing storage a breeze. I can fit a couple surfboards under the seats if I wanted. With the L - Shape ballast, it limits the storage in the rear lockers and may become a concern when I put bags in there as this is where we normally store wet jackets and bouy's. We will see how this plays into our experience more next season. I really like the firmness of the seats compared to prior years. The walkover transom is a huge plus and is one of the main reasons we upgraded. We did opt for the filler cushion but don't really intend to bring it along for every outing but in certain instances where we know we will mainly float, it will likely come along for the ride. I do like the ability to access the OB storage from the bow. Driver's Helm: With the switch in 2020 of the sport knob and 7" touch screen, it takes a minute getting used to but isn't bad. The power seat is nice but wobbles more than I would like. I did notice that the windshield has more "blindspots" than my VLX did. This is because the framing is larger in the walkthrough and corners. Everything is comfortable to reach and ease to use. Engine Performance: The boat has a lot of that "put you in your seat" feeling at various throttle positions making it fun. My VLX did the same with the torque prop. At this point, I haven't fully loaded the boat out for surfing other than factory ballast, but I am not concerned it will do what I want it to do. When cruising, about 3500 RPMs gets about 23 MPH. I have noticed fuel consumption to be around 4-6 GPH of mostly cruising speed, initial break-in, etc. My average cruising RPM has been around 3600. As it has been stated before, the ability to winterize this in a few minutes flat is incredible and another huge plus. Wake Performance: Having never wakeboarded behind an '18 or newer 23 LSV (only 25 LSV and 24 MXZ), my favorite wake has been a '15 23 LSV to date. The shape of the wake and the size were all great. After riding behind this new boat, with only 200 lbs of lead under the port side seats to balance the boat with a driver, and 2 kids total weight less than 70 lbs, and wedge in position 4, I can say the wake was much larger than I would expect and pleasantly surprised. It is larger than the '15 LSV fully loaded stock ballast. I can do everything and more without ever loading up the ballast system. On the note of the ballast system, the new setup of eMLS makes fill times faster and I haven't had issues with the siphoning effect that would happen as you would drive around. Surf Performance: I have only loaded stock ballast and have not actually ridden behind the boat. Other than evaluating it on appearance, it is larger than my VLX loaded. That is all I have now. Keep in mind, I am not worried about the surf wave as this is not my primary purpose behind the boat. I know it will surf well. Ride Handling: Having spent the previous weekend in an Ri257 on a large lake with lots of chop and knowing what my experience has been in the '15 LSV and my VLX, I wasn't expecting it to compare to the Ri. While, I wouldn't recommend hauling across a lake in a lot of chop like you can in the Ri, this 23 does an amazing job cutting through and is significantly smoother than my expectations. When you land on the rough part of the wake and the boat hits hard, this boat will land much softer and not as jarring. Malibu changed this up on this new boat and I can tell with a "deeper v". I didn't need to come off throttle from a cruising speed to a plowing surf speed to ride through chop. It was great. I do notice that just like the Ri257, turning and various other movements at idle happen slower but it is to be expected. Audio Performance: One of my biggest concerns was the limitation here but I knew this going into the new boat. Having worked with my local dealer through events over the last several years, I have seen the improvements that Malibu has made to better tune these boats. It has more potential but is fine for the listening that we do. Having the ability to store music from your streaming app of choice is nice - mine happens to be Amazon Music. I like that I can download the playlists prior to leaving the house and hitting the water without needing to use my phone as a music device. Overall: I am extremely excited about this boat. There are so many marginal improvements from a 2014 to now that you don't realize until you upgrade and use that are nice changes - things like battery location, wind screen storage location, seat hinges, deeper storage, etc. It certainly makes the day out on the water more enjoyable.
  4. Folks, I want to use the B&W Hitch to tow my '21 23 LSV but I'm concerned that I'll be pushing/exceeding the capacity of the 2" ball. The 2" ball on the B&W hitch has a max capacity of 7,500 lbs. regardless of the size of shank. My dealer told me that my boat and trailer weigh 6,500 lbs dry. Add almost 400 lbs of gas and I'm already at 6,900. Even assuming I don't put any lead in the boat, add gear and I'll be pushing/exceeding the 7,500 lb limit. I prefer the looks and the functionality of the B&W over any other hitch. What are your thoughts?
  5. Looking for a clean, lightly used 23' LSV - 2016 and newer. Any suggestions of solid Malibu dealers out there (in the US) with fair pricing and inventory that don't generally list their pre-owned inventory on the common national websites (OnlyInboards, FB MarketPlace, etc.) - but have their pre-owned inventory listed on their website(s)? Any suggestions would be much appreciated...thanks! Cheers!
  6. Looking at some 2020 23 LSVs with different motors and would love some insight / opinions. The end game for me is surfing with the optimum wave...full ballast, PNP, 500 lbs of lead up front / port coffin and a 500 lb bow sac when needed. I'm in the Midwest at a lower altitude (810'). Can a M5 with a high altitude / torque prop do everything I want it to do or do I need to go bigger? Does a M6 and / or 450 require a high altitude prop? Fuel efficiency difference in the three motors (when surfing)? Are there any other factors that I'm missing? Were the transmissions / ratios all the same for 2020 23 LSVs? Thanks!
  7. So we currently have a 2019 Malibu 21 VLX which has been well used and has nearly 250 hours. 6.0L engine is great and quiet. We are considering an upgrade but there are considerations so would love some advice. First, we have about 39” of water depth at the end of our dock. New boat requires a new lift and probably another 4’ of dock for a few more inches of depth and bigger boat. VLX gets on and off a 5k lift no problem. Not a deal-breaker but we are in a shared dock within an association so will have to navigate that. Second is the tow vehicle and I have a 2019 Ram 1500 4x4 with 8200 lb. towing capacity. I love the truck and don’t want a new one. Third is obviously choosing the right boat. We mostly surf, with a bit of wakeboarding and some (sorry) tubing interspersed. We like to cruise and float/swim and trailer the boat 2-3x a year for a change of pace. Drive-ability is important - don’t want a bus. We love the VLX - it does everything we need for sure. If we are being picky it would be for clamping racks, new engine, new mOS, reset of the hours/warranty, more space, a little better rough water performance (we can get pretty wet in the VLX is there is chop), and a little more fit and finish including transom walk through. My wife and daughter love the bow and prioritize that space above all else, my son and I prioritize performance and the walk through. All this to say we are either going to be content with what we have or take the plunge and upgrade. But is the best option a 23 LSV (new design and features are nice), 23 MXZ (bow would be nice but none of us love the look) or the new m220 (blend of the best of all but perhaps too heavy to be practical?) I really wouldn’t consider a MC but might consider a Nautique 230 as an alternative to Bu. How should I think about the pros and cons here? Thanks in advance
