  1. Hey all, I have a 2016 Malibu 23LSV. Last weekend when I had the boat I noticed that the power wedge wouldn't go down at all- its stuck at the Stow position. The debug screen reads 3.56 volts and 200 when at the stow position- hitting the + button on the debug screen produces a whine in the actuator but no actual movement of the wedge (probably because it is already all the way up, I assume) but pressing the - button produces nothing- no sound from the actuator, no clicking from the relay. Based on the tons of research that I did across this forum I assumed it was a relay problem so I ordered a new one and tried to install it myself- when I did that all I got was a clicking noise from the relay when pressing the - and + buttons, no noise from the actuator at all. I put the old one back in and same issues as before. A few other notes: Initially I was not getting any message about "check wedge cal" on the screen until I started messing with the +/- controls on the debug screen, now it keeps popping up all the time. I removed the wedge sensor and played with the bolt setting, it was reading the changes in voltage when moving the bolt. I turned it back to the 3.5-3.6 volt range and screwed the sensor back on. All wires coming from the actuator in the boat seemed to be in good condition, no cuts or exposed wire. Did not notice any loose bolts and the actuator pin seems to be fine. Any suggestions? Could it be the actuator itself? I'm just not sure because it is making noise when hitting the + button on debug. Could a faulty viper I/O module be a cause of this? Thanks in advance for anyone's help.
  2. Have 2002 Wakesetter VLX. Bought used without a factory wedge. Is it possible to add one? Is hull transom structurally sound enough to do this? I read somewhere that some Malibu models had to have a reinforced transom to have a wedge. Note: swim platform has access panel already, but that does not necessarily mean that the boat is built to accept a wedge installed. Thx!
  3. Hi - I have a 2007 LSV23. My wedge is stuck mid-way and my mechanic is saying it's likely an actuator / ram issue, but that they no longer sell individual parts...you have to buy whole kit and it will run around $1700. I understand what the actuator is....what is the ram(s)? Can you buy these parts independently. Can you use the same switch on the dash or do you need a new one. Thx
  4. Hi all, I have a 2006 Malibu Wakesetter with a manual wedge. We just got the in upholstery re-done and all of the dash plugs were unplugged during the process. We dropped the boat in the water last week and now I am getting a warning message on the In-Dash display which shows "Power Wedge is Moving Up." I moved the wedge up and down, looked under the dash, no fuses are popped, and all of the plugs are where they original were to begin with. I also went to the "Setup" section in the In-Dash Display to see if there was something there to tell the system that we do not have a Power Wedge, but I could not find anything. I even went to the Setup section and cycled the gauges... no change to the Power Wedge warning. It goes off ever 5 mins or so and has an annoying beeping noise. Please Help!!!
  5. First time out in my new -used 2009 23LSV - could not get the wedge to stow away in up position and later found that the actuators broke away from their mount and wedge is just hanging there now. Actuators seem to still work. Is there a way to replace the end cap of the actuator so it can be re mounted or do is have to buy all new. Did I drive too fast with it halfway up and cause this to happen
  6. I have a 2005 23 lsv with a manual wedge. I really like the wave that the boat puts out when wedge is down but yesterday the wedge broke off where the bolts connect to the arms. The foil was completely gone and one arm was bent. I took the foil assembly off and we kept surfing the rest of the day without the wedge. The wave was still pretty good considering we had some fat sacs in the rear locker, but definitely not the size it was before. I looked everywhere I knew to look for a new manual wedge but couldn’t find one. Does anybody have any info on how to get a wedge, or if an auto floating wedge will work on the same bracket as the manual wedge? Or if I should just put more weight in the boat and do without the wedge? Like I said I wasn’t completely unhappy with how the wave looked without the wedge and I definitely could add a few more ballast bags.
  7. I'm wanting to hear some success or lack-of-success testimonies involved in the process of putting wedges on boats that did not already have them. I'm not talking about wave shapers going on the sides of boats for wakesurfing... I'm talking about WEDGES underneath the swimdeck platform for shaping up/improving the wakeboarding wake/popiness/velocity for wakeboarders. I've purchased an 01 Malibu wakesetter and there is no wedge nor base plate for a wedge to be added on. I'd like to have a wedge for wakeboarding purposes, and I was told by a mechanic that unless it was already on the Malibu, it's difficult to have it installed. What exactly are the risks and limits that are involved with having it installed in this case? Also: don't laugh... or do... but I'm just going to go ahead and ask this just in case anybody knows of this being done: Has anybody ever made a suction-cup wedge you can manually apply-when-desired that actually goes beneath the swimdeck? How crazy or not-crazy of an idea is this, and has this been tried before? I can imagine one risk (besides it falling off and sinking if it didn't float) would be... it falls off and somehow gets caught up in the prop or shaft or rudder... and yeah that would suck... but IF the driver managed to not go in reverse... would that deter that from happening completely? Other hypothetical risks involved with this? Well... I just figured this would be the appropriate place to ask if this has ever successfully (or unsuccessfully) been tested out in the real world?
  8. I have been "mooching" off friends and family and talking about buying for the last probably 3 years. This spring, after months of looking, finally wrote the check and dove head first into ownership. Even though prices seemed to be abnormally crazy this spring, I found what I was looking for and bought a loaded, previous owner demo, 2013 LSV a couple weeks ago. I say purchased, but what I really did was rescue this poor thing from an abusive home. I found a gentleman who didn't quite know what he had and got a steal of a deal. I knew to some degree it was in need some TLC but it may have been a bit more neglected than I thought. It has only 202 hrs on it so I am fairly certain the bones are good, I am just having quite a bit of odds and ends that are needing to be repaired. I am looking for some insight on the issues below. I worked at a Malibu dealership in the summers through college, detailing and doing simple maintenance, so I would like to do as much as I can myself to save the coin. As well as saving the labor costs, none of the shops close to me can get it in until mid July. Not surprising but would still like to have it rocking sooner than later. Issues... 1.) Equip with all four MLS tanks as well as rear P&P, center fill pump is not responding at all. This pump is crazy hard to get to and I'm wondering how to replace the cartridge. Where do I splice/plug in the new pump cartridge? The display for this tank is also reading funky, sometimes it will say it has water in it and sometimes it won't. 2.) The PW will sometimes send an error of either being unbalanced or the STBD actuator is faulting out but will also work perfectly other times. Are these easy to change out and should I do both if I'm doing one? 3.) While surfing or cruising, "automatic bilge activated" warning keeps coming up. When I stop and look to see if their is water in the bilge, it is bone dry. Is there possibly a sensor that needs to be replaced? 4.) I feel the boat is wandering when cruising. When cruising around the lake 20-25 mph, I am constantly steering back and forth to keep it on a strait line. It can also be felt down at surfing speeds but more evident at higher speeds. I'm not against bringing it to a Bu dealer, I know a couple around but I don't want to have it sitting at the dealer for 2+ weeks in the middle of summer as they are not the longest up here anyway. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  9. I'm interested in a couple of LXIs in the 2004 to 2005 dates which have the barefoot plate. Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the plate and replace it with a wedge? From the pictures I could find online it appears that the plate mounts to a bracket. Wondering if there is any change the wedge can mount to the same bracket?
  10. Can anyone tell me if a manual wedge can be added to a 2005 Response LX that was not equipped with one from the factory? Thanks in advance!
