  1. Yesterday it finally happened...we hit something in the lake. We have a 2002 Sunsetter on the diamond hull running a standard ACME 541 prop. We were barely moving but in gear and struck something underwater - likely a piece of submerged concrete wall near the boat ramp. It bend around 3/4" of one blade pretty good so I have a couple questions.... 1. Which prop do I replace it with? ACME says a 475 will give a better/softer wake for skiing and I would love to tame the rooster tail just a bit - has anyone tried this switch from a 515 to 475 and what was their result? 2. The boat makes a whining noise in gear now - the shaft rotates about like it did before and doesn't seem to have any tightness or different feel - should I pull the shaft and have it checked? Who can check for a bend propshaft? 3. In my research I have found that you have to drop the rudder to pull the shaft - If I end up going that route - how hard it this to do? The rudder seems to be buried under the fuel tank and the far rear so what is the easiest way to access it? At least it's October and not July but I was hoping for another week or 2 of skiing before winterization time. Thanks for your help!
  2. Ill head off the, "Just by a TXi" comments. I might look at one in a number of years, but right now the v-drive layout and higher freeboard is better for 80% of what we do. I know by adding tabs I won't get a TXi like wake. I am thinking of putting some Bennett hydraulic tabs on my 2013 VTX to improve the slalom wakes. Right now ill ski at 34mph and 28 or 32 off, and the Slalom wake is ok, but I am pretty certain it could be better. In reading posts from Team Talk, and BOS, it seems that there could be a noticeable improvement. I am thinking about doing this in combination with some other weight reduction exercises, and have even considered removing the tower to save weight (and make it easier to get in and out of the garage), but removing the tower brings all sorts of other problems to solve. The couple of features on the new SN (Hydro-Gate and MicroTuners) got me thinking about adding tabs. I am thinking the tabs are relatively low risk, if they make the wake worse, or don't make a noticeable difference, I am out $800, but can probably sell the kit on ebay, and spend a bit of money to have the gel repaired. BOAT... https://www.amazon.com/Bennett-129atp-Hydraulic-Trim-Complete/dp/B07G7ZPGNM 1. Has anyone on here added tabs to improve slalom wakes? 2. For the folks that have after market tabs for surfing, if you put them down a touch while slaloming, is there a noticeable improvement in the slalom wake? 3. Does anyone have thoughts on placement, or possibly shape modifications that might be good for the 12x9 tabs. My schoolin' in hydrodynamics is a bit lacking. I have no idea what it will do to the trough, wake height, firmness etc. we will see! 4. Any thoughts on electric vs. hydraulic? Thanks crew!
  3. Hey guys I’m new to wake surfing, and having a little difficulty dropping the handle. I have a 21 MLX and just looking to get the best set up to drop the handle and not slip off the back of the wake. With limited weight in the boat I fill all tanks to 100% surf the port side and wedge set at 4 traveling 11 mph. The board I’m using is surf style Ronix 5’5”, so It’s pretty long. Do I have to much ballast in the boat? Should I change the surf wedge/stow it? I’m not great, but I have the ability to drop the handle. I’m just having a hard time staying in the “sweet spot.”
  4. Hi Folks. I have 3 kids that are competitive wakeboarders. I’m wanting to buy a new boat and I know they love the Malibu wake. I have a line on a nice 2016 22vlx but it has the Diamond Hull. I know the older Wakesetters with Diamond Hulls didn’t produce big enough wakeboard wakes. Are the new Diamond Hulls better for that? When I’ve talked to dealers, they answer depending on what they have in stock. I’m looking for some real world wakeboarding advice. I’m not concerned with the surf wake. Thanks!
  5. Looking for some input. I have a new LSV 25, just came out of a 2016 Axis A24. One thing that is very different has been figuring out the right combination for a nice wakeboard wake that is very rampy and sharp. I had an easy time with my Axis, but my LSV under power creates a much stronger starboard lean. I have put 300 lbs of weight on the port side but still have to unevenly load up the ballast bags. In the past I was running about 21-22 and 65% full on back bags (Sumo 750's) with full front and another 100 lbs of steel shot bags on my Axis made a very clean wake. The lean under power for the LSV has been a surprise to me. I am not sure what is causing this and what the wise fix would be. The dealer's suggestion is to do what I am doing. Any suggestions? Should consider another prop?
  6. Considering purchasing either an LX or LXi (98 to 2007 on both) looking for a great slalom wake at 15/22 off at 32 MPH in an open bow for versatility and family. I can't find any for sale or test ski, in my area but have skied behind a 2000 Sport Nautique and a 2000 Ski Nautique. Any comparisons, especially to the Sport as it is also open bow. Appreciate the input! Considering purchasing a boat long distance but want to understand what to expect before I make the 10+ hour trip.
