    97 sunsetter vlx

    Hello all, I am looking at possibly purchasing my first big boy boat. I gave grown up on the lake and owned multiple boats(outboards/i/o) and skied behind both. I would like to possibly get into surfing, and have been scouring listings for a while now trying to let the perfect fit of my criteria appear, and I think it might have happened. Found a 97 sunsetter vlx with under 400 hours and in my budget, asking 13k I just want some assurance before I pull the trigger too quickly, but in comparison to everything else out there it seems like quite the deal- https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/659529158030356/ Hope to join the Malibu family soon!   2. Hi crew, im about to embark on a damper plate replacement on 2002 vlx wakesetter Vdrive with a monsoon 335. If anyone has any detailed guides with photos specific to a vdrive it would be much appreciated.
  3. Hoping you guys have some input. Have a 2013 LSV Wakesetter w/ ~315 hrs that is babied. Had it de-winterized in April, and after less that 5 hours on the water, the drive shaft breaks (had not hit anything). After 2 weeks at the dealership (they are WAY backed up), mechanic goes to install new shaft and realizes vdrive is locked up. Btw, vdrive and transmission fluid were flushed during de-winterization. Tells me fluid is burnt up and bearings had gone out. Now says we have to replace the vdrive AND transmission because they “don’t do them separately”. Part is 4K from Indmar (apparently original manufacturer) with no actual eta. With the research I’ve done it seems like a possible Walter rebuild or even new Walter Vdrive would be a less costly alternative. And nowhere does it say anything about requiring BOTH vdrive and transmission. Is this standard (ie automatically refers to both when talks about replacing vdrive)? With this cost, plus the cost of replacing the drive shaft and prop rebuild I’m feeling a little nauseous. Any suggestions/input would be appreciated. Even if it just sets my mind at ease that what I’m being told is right.
  4. So recently my vdrive light has been coming on. It says to not run the drive if the light is illuminated past 1200RMP. ive noticed that it is not on between 2000-2500 RMP but will come back on at 2500+RMP at times. it doeant always stay on, it more of judt flickers. I checked my trans fluid and my vdrive oil and both look great. My question is, do those sensors for the vdrive go bad and could it just be a sencore that is messing up. Boat seems to run fine. Its a 2001 sunsetter vlx.
